1979 Jeep CJ-5 Silver Anniversary edition. PROJECT Up for sale is my 1979 CJ-5 I purchased this as a frame off restoration project approximately one year ago. I was told and have no reason to doubt that I'm the third owner. The first owner used it to plow his driveway for years then sold to the gentleman I purchased it from. It has 44,828 miles on the odometer I believe this to be accurate. The vehicle was running and driving when I purchased it. The 4 wheel drive worked and shift in and out easily like wise the transmission shift smoothly and the clutch felt good. Unfortunately the body was a nightmare. the original tub was to far past bingo to be repaired. So that being the case I removed the original tub and began my restoration. What has been done so far. A good majority of the frame has been cleaned and coated with por-15. All the body mounts have been professionally welded and repaired. The drivetrain has been left alone minus removal of the fuel lines,fuel tank, and brake lines all were rotted. I have purchased another 1979 cj-5 tub that needs a little body work to be perfect. I have the original grill, dash, roll bar, and hood. The fenders were rotted as well and could not be saved. All in all it's a project I'm trying ebay because I'm hoping to find the jeep guys who know what this is and why it's worth the hassle of putting it all together.
