Well here we have a 1961 Volkswagen Bug Golde Rag Top, VW only made these from 1955 up until 1963.Out of 800 bugs for sale nation wide, there might be 80 Rag Tops for sale and out of those 80 only 25 or so are in good condition. They are very hard to find in this condition. This one is in good condition with lots of new parts and was always very well maintained. I have a lot of documentation on all the work that was performed in the last 8 years. Some of the work that was done was the motor was rebuilt at approx. 40,000 miles on the odometer and now has approx. 95,000. So approx. 50,000 miles on the rebuild. The tranny was rebuilt at this time also with new clutch and throw out bearing. The brakes and wheel bearings and brake lines were all replaced, all new fuel lines, carb was rebuilt recently also. New axle boots. The car is very tight and no shimmy or shakes going down the road, very nice smooth ride. New white walls, rims are painted all white. The top is white. Blue Leather steering wheel cover. All wipers and lights and horn and AM radio work, even the high beam inside the speedo works. This bug is equipped with a mercury gas gage that does not work, also has a manual choke on the dash that does work. All the glass is in great condition. Everything is very nice. The paint is grade on a scale of 1 thru 10 at a 6, needs some body work and a good paint job to make it a show car. I am very picky when it comes to certain things but I would rather be honest then mislead anyone into believing that this cars paint is beautiful or spot free. If it was I would be asking a lot more for it. Very nice mechanically sound Bug that looks nice and clean but could use a better paint job to be a show stopper. I drove it not to long ago on a 3.5 hour roundtrip with out a hiccup. Runs and drives very nice at 65-70 MPH no problem. Everyone is honking,waving,smiling and punching each other hollering Blue one!
