Vehicle Detail
Note #1: This was re-listed once because eBay (without even verifying the accuracy of the claim) cancelled my original auction due to a company claiming (inaccurately) that I had violated their copyrighted trademark, when in fact a call to the FTC revealed that I had NOT violated their trademark. They claim ownership over a version of a phrase I used in my original auction which the FTC says that while they do have "one very specific version" of the phrase trademarked, the usage as I had used in my auction, just as Mitsubishi did in their original literature, was not a version which that company had any rights to and despite what that company would have people believe, the phrase, as I had used it is in fact a well-known generic automotive terminology in many regions of the county. I am now encouraging everyone I know and meet to boycott any products produced by this company due to their attempted bullying. While I respect a companies right to protect themselves against other large companies, no company should bully small people who are using terms to describe a vehicle that they are listing when that term is how the original manufacturer had described it in their original advertising and/or literature, especially when the version as used is not even owned in any way by the company doing the bullying as verified by the FTC. People should never support companies that use bully tactics. If anyone wishes to know about this company I will be happy to share via private correspondence, which is my right as an American consumer. Note #2: Now it's being re-listed yet again, this time due to a fake person who joined eBay and an hour later clicked the "Buy it Now" button on this auction and apperantly many others and after a week of no contact and discovering that no one at their listed phone number has ever heard of them I have been informed by eBay that they were a fake or spoof bidder, practical joker, or whatever you would want to call such a lame person who has nothing better to do with their time. 1994 Mitsubishi Montero SR Sport 3.5L V6. The SR is the top of Mitsubishi's SUV line and this one is fully loaded up with the larger 3.5L HE V6, she's load with Leather, the large panoramic-sky sun roof that covers the whole rear seat area, the full gauges including the off-road gauge set with the inclinometer up in the dash, on-demand 4x4 so you don't have to stop to shift into or out of 4x4, ten-way front seats, all power everything, and beautiful dark teal green metallic with the lower body clad in campaign metallic and buckskin/doeskin interior colors trimmed in black. This Mitsubishi was our families daily driver for almost five years and was always a wonderful, solid, very reliable SUV. Actually really really nice riding and handling and a pleasure to drive. She's a southern vehicle with a clear Arkansas title. She was a real pleasure to drive and never gave us any problems at all ever, even during several long interstate road trips. Then last fall suddenly one morning I got in her to go to down, started it, and noticed a dull knock in the motor. It had just been driven the day before and everything was just fine. I immediately killed it and a couple of days later got a relative who is a mechanic to come over take a quick look. He had me start it while he listened with a funny looking stethoscope-like thing only with a really long plastic tube on the end, after listening around different places on the engine he said it was up front and down low. He believed it to most likely be one of the front rods just starting to knock and suggested I not try and drive it, which we didn't. We were told it probably wouldn't cost that much to fix as long as we didn't drive it and make it worse, more a matter of the time to do the work because it was about a 10 hour job to pull the motor, fix it, he suggested going ahead and putting in a whole new bearing set while in there and "freshening up" the lower motor since it was running so great before the knock started and did not use any oil. He said would probably be good for another 150,000 miles if we did that and the rod knocking, was just one of those "one-off" flukes considering the excellent history of the Mitsu and since the actual pulling and replacing of the motor accounted for 90% of the actual work and repairing the part less than 10% it just would make sense to just go ahead and freshen everything up while in there anyway. So we parked it with plans that some day when both he and myself had spare time he was going to come get it and we were going to take it to his place and I was going to help him do the work over the course of some week during the evenings. Just doing it when we got around to it. Well, we own a ranch and have several vehicles and so it wasn't like we didn't have anything else to drive so time just kind of got away from us and before long I was offered another SUV at a great price and bought it and so the Mitsubishi got parked in our shed and just kind of forgotten for awhile. Well, a few months later my wife was diagnosed with cancer and started going through treatments and now we have gotten to the point that we really need to liquidate many of the vehicles and ranch equipment that we have spent a lifetime acquiring. So here the Mitsu is for sale. She's still a beautiful machine, I know she's acquired a good coating of dust and pollen while in storage and I didn't even clean her up so you can see it on the dash, etc. in the pictures. She's a used vehicle so I'm sure that she has the usual routine minor parking lot dings and wear on the interior. The only really noticeable thing is that the clearcoat has peeled on the center of the hood, something fairly common with these as I understand it but I think you could buff or even have the hood repainted by itself as the rest of the paint is excellent. All I did was to push her out of the shed and rinse off her exterior with a garden hose and take the pictures just as she was so what you see is exactly what you get. I really feel that if someone is willing to take the time to pull the engine and fix the knocking rod. He said that it might be possible to just lift it enough to drop the oil pan and do the work, but in the end might be just as east to pull the whole engine since it's a 4x4 and these engines are known to be fairly easy by comparison to many modern models to get out and then in again. If you have any other questions or would like to see it in person before the auction ends please feel free to write me. We have a ranch so have space so picking it up immediately is not a rush as long as the winning bidder keeps in touch, but we would like it picked up within 7-10 days if at all possible. If it's going to be more than three days before you can pick her up we'd like a $500 deposit so we know your serious and not one of those fake spoof bidders that are on eBay. She's a used vehicle so we're of course selling her as is without any warrantee or guarantees, written, expressed, or implied. If you want to have her inspected at your own expense before you bid then please contact me and we can get together on a date and time. I really would not recommend trying to drive her home, you could risk turning what is most-likely something very minor and could end up doing more damage but If the winning bidder is from out of state and really wants to fly into the Little Rock National airport to try and drive her home I can meet you for $100 extra, to cover my expense in hauling her to meet you since I am not going to risk doing more damage by driving her. I do have a diesel farm truck and an equipment trailer which can also easily haul vehicles but it's about a 240 mile round trip. If you want to have a shipping company pick it up for you I will of course work with you to meet them at a truck stop on the highway or whatever is needed I will help with that, there is a small truck stop at the highway only about 7 miles from my house and I can take her out there on my trailer to meet an automotive transporter, or if you actually live within the same region of the country as us I might can even deliver it myself or meet you half way for a reasonable fee.
