Vehicle Detail
No reserve. No BS. This is the barn find you always hear about - well here's the real deal. NOTE: the engine in this car is NOT operational. Sad, sad, story. It can't be fixed in situ for any reasonable amount of money. It would need new cams, cam followers, and the original problem - new valve chain guides. Every single part and bolt that was removed from the engine (prior to me) is in the trunk. You will most likely need to replace or rebuild the engine. A source for one is the following web site http://www.adsitco.com/category.asp?CID=1876 and look for the 116.965 engine - amount $950 plus core and shipping. Or buy a fully rebuilt one. Of course, you could always pull this one, and rebuild it - my guess it's in superb condition otherwise - all records show it was meticulously maintained. I bought it originally for $1000 (it's REALLY in good shape) to strip the interior and other parts to put in a blue / tan W126 car my lady friend found on the internet which we took to Mexico. When all was said and done, we left the other one as it was (it was actually very nice, it was just this one was perfect), as this car was just too nice to dismantle. See my other auctions for a 350SDL and 300SD (provided not already sold) and read the story. Anyway ... The exterior paint and interior are about a 9.8 on a scale of 10. No kidding folks. It's really that good. No drips. No leaks. The windshield is about a 9.9 on a scale of 10 - no pitting or sandblasting. There's a few leaves and twigs on the car - but the paint itself - superb. In the interior - look at the side sills - even the covering on those is in great shape ! And for grins, you get an old cellular car-phone - an antique in it's own right. One previous owner - Texas car all it's life. The original sales documents were in the car. Car went through marriage / divorce and thus name changes / address changes - but it was sold to me by the person who originally bought it and owned it all their life. No rust. No issues. The engine is a shame - and the person that owned it was elderly, could not drive anyway, so there was no point. Replace the engine and you have yourself a superb vehicle. This vehicle will need to be towed on a trailer or loaded on a transport. Transport is solely and fully the responsibility of the buyer. I can have it delivered anywhere within the lower 48 US states for $750 by a motor carrier which I use to move some of my other cars around - need two to three weeks notice. Surcharges (big !) for Long Island and extreme rural areas. Happy bidding.
