1988 Mercury Cougar LS 5 litre EFI. In very-very good condition Last of the 6th generation “Fox” chassis cars, and the only year of series fitted with the later electronic fuel-injected EFI V8. A very quick and powerful car. Only 63000 current miles, but as this is my daily driver, this will change. Soon to be a classic, yet can be driven daily with ALL the modern factory power options. Clear CT title and reg. as “Early American”. Car does not now fit my needs, I need to be able to tow my boat and putting a hitch on this car would spoil it. This is a no-reserve auction with the starting bid at what I paid for the car in 2009. The Very Good: Original near perfect original “Oxford White” duco. Original “Scarlet” cloth interior and h/liner, in excellent condition. No rust in body and very little underneath. Excellent glass with a professionally applied medium tint. Almost new Cooper “weather” tires, on 16” alloy wheels Brand new “Diehard” battery. Newer shocks & exhaust. Trunk is “as new”. Original “build sheet” dated 07/19/88 The Good: The original lady owner did very few miles and the 2nd owner just let it sit. I have had quite a time getting this motor cleaned out and running well, but it is now, has not yet passed CT emissions but I believe it only needs a new Oxygen sensor. New plugs & wiring New coil New gas-cap Transmission shifts perfectly. No oil leaks anywhere. No check engine light. Brake pads and linings have very little wear. Original ‘Ford’ electronic 4 speaker radio/cassette. Digital speedometer and all instruments work. Power windows and 6-way seat work perfectly. Power mirrors work perfectly Cruise control works perfectly Power locks, with after-market keyless entry work perfectly. The Not-So Good. “Star” chip in LH parking light. RH rear quarter window missing chrome trim. Oil pressure light “flickers’ at idle, but everything sounds tight and motor runs strong. AC does not blow cold. I would require $500 deposit paid on “Pay Pal” at the close of the auction, and the balance before pick-up.
