Please view additional and high resolution photos at my MSN Hotmail "Skydrive" link below: http://cid-0fd1b82fc83a44d3.photos.live.com/play.aspx/1971%20Dodge%20Charger%20for%20Sale This was my first car, purchased used in California in 1981. It was my daily driver for many years and it served me well. It was last registered and used on a regular basis in 1997. Since then it has sat in my driveway awaiting restoration. At the time that I parked it, it was running, but I have not tried to start it in years. After sitting all this time, it definitely needs to be considered “not running”. About 6 years ago I started a father-son project to try to get the car back on the road. Due to a lack of time and interest, this did not get very far. A project to replace the water pump was started and not completed. Therefore, the water pump, alternator, fan and accessory belts are not currently installed. Neither the car, nor I am getting any younger, so it is time to move on. I am putting this 1971 Dodge Charger for sale with an opening bid of $500 with no reserve. The car is in reasonably complete, but in poor condition. I have moved on to other cars and it has been sitting in my driveway for over a dozen years. The condition has deteriorated to the point that it will require a full restoration to be usable, or perhaps it can be used for parts. I DO have the keys and title on hand. The original 318 engine was replaced in the late 80’s or early with a 318 engine from a 1978 or 1979 Dodge Magnum. This engine was upgraded with the following 340/360 parts: Heads, Intake manifold, Carter 4 BBL Thermoquad Carb, Exhaust Manifolds, Windage Tray & Bolts, Double Roller Timing Chain, Hi-Pro Oil Pump. Originally the car came with an A-904 transmission. This transmission was replaced with an aftermarket B&M Street & Strip A-727 Touqueflight racing transmission with a high stall converter in the early 80’s. The heavy duty A-727 transmissions with the small block bolt pattern cases are rare and hard to find. This also required a special driveshaft, which is also rare and hard to find. It is included and installed on the car. The original B&M case was destroyed in the mid 80’s after the deep sump oil pan caught on railroad tracks that extended above the pavement. All internal parts were transferred into another A-727 case. The B&M factory manual that describes how to build/rebuild the transmission is included. Reverse gear was slipping when last driven. Power windows, a very rare option, were added from wrecked 1970 Dodge Charger in the early ‘80’s. When last driven, the switches were developing bad connections. After sitting for many years, they should be considered non-working. The following heavy duty police parts were added : 100 amp alternator with mounting brackets, wiring harness & ammeter, certified speedometer (odometer retained to keep actual miles), front and rear sway bars (front sway bar mounting brackets on lower control arms have broken off) A custom made volt meter replaces the blank “filler plug” in the dash, it looks factory installed. The car originally had a bench front seat. Bucket seats and center armrest from a 1978 or 1979 Dodge Magnum were added in the mid 80’s. The center armrest is not bolted down. Like most 1970’s era cars this car came without an right side rear view mirror. I added a factory right side mirror in the early ‘80’s. The roof has rusted through in a number of spots due to water accumulation under the original factory vinyl top. This resulted in water accumulating in the floor pan, leading them to rust out in several places. The fenders have rusted through in several places where the internal drain holes were plugged and debris accumulated inside. The area near the bottom of the rear window has rusted through, leading to water accumulating in the trunk, which has also rusted through in portions of the trunk floor. There are major dents in the following areas: right side just behind the passenger door, left front fender in front of front wheel, left rear fender behind rear wheel. I have done my best to describe the car as accurately as possible. Please feel free to ask questions. I will do my best to answer them. If you would like additional information or photos I will do my best to provide them. If you would like to see the car in person, I will be glad to show it to you. Note that I reserve the right to end the auction early and sell the car outside of eBay. A non-refundable $500 deposit via Pay-pal is required within 72 hours of the auction closing. This amount will NOT be refunded and will be considered liquidated damages if you do follow through with the sale. The balance must be paid in full by Pay-Pal or in cash before vehicle is picked up. I’m sorry, but I will not accept checks or any other form of payment. The vehicle is located in Kirkland, WA, a suburb of Seattle. Please do not bid if you do not have the means to pick up the vehicle. The vehicle must be picked up within 14 days of the auction close unless other arrangements are made. The car is not drivable and you will need a suitable flatbed trailer, tow truck or other means of shipping a non-running vehicle. The buyer must make his or her own shipping arrangements. If you are a new eBay member, have less than 5 transactions with feedback, a negative feedback rating or have multiple negative feedback comments, I reserve the right to request additional information from you or to cancel your bid. Please do not bid unless you intend to follow through with the transaction. Except as noted below, all photos represent the current condition of the car in June 2010. This was just prior to my first auction in July that fell through when the buyer did not pay. I am relisting the auction with the car in the same condition. My name and address on the photo of the title were deliberately blurred to protect my privacy on the Internet. I will provide this information to qualified potential buyers upon request. The photos marked “Historical 1981 Photo” in large letters are just that, pictures of the car that were taken in 1981 shortly after I bought it. They clearly do NOT represent the current condition of the car. They are provided only to illustrate what the car once looked like when it was in good condition.
