Vehicle Detail
Note: This vehicle is being re-listed due to a fake person who joined eBay and an hour later clicked the "Buy it Now" button on this auction and apparently many others and after a week of no contact and discovering that no one at their listed phone number has ever heard of them I have been informed by eBay that they were a fake or spoof bidder, practical joker, or whatever you would want to call such a lame person who has nothing better to do with their time. This is a cute and sporty 1999 Saturn SC2 Sports Coupe in a what you'd call either a Dark Silver Metallic or Light Grey Metallic exterior (kinda somewhere in between so I'm not sure which to call it but it is a beautiful color) and a Tan interior trimmed in Black. She's powered by Saturns 1.9L overhead cam engine and a 5 Speed Overdrive Transmission giving her a wonderful 26 MPG in the city and 36 on the Interstate. Our combined driving experience usually ends up around the 31-32 MPG mark. She's a nice clean Southern car, has never been wrecked or had any body damage and has a clean Arkansas title. She's a nice driving solid little car with no mechanical issues and no rust. We're not the first owners but have had her for almost five years and over 11k miles and she's never had any issues nor been anything but reliable, a pleasure to drive. Back when we first bought her we had the timing belt changed when a shop told us that your supposed to change it at 100k even though she was running fine, we later found out that you're not actually supposed to change it until 160k miles so I think the shop talked us into buying something we didn't really need but at least it's been done so you shouldn't have to worry about that for a long time. She doesn't use oil, the tires are good though not new, and we had new brake pads put on about 8k miles ago. The only thing that we know of that doesn't work right is the nylon gear on the sunroof motor is stripped, it's in the closed position so no problem if it's not fixed but if you do want to fix it they sell a replacement gear kit at the dealer for less than $20 and we're told you can change it yourself for only a few dollars but you have to be willing to take the headliner down to get to it and then put it back up afterwards. The little Saturn is super-cute and runs great but she's not cosmetically perfect, there is some wear on the side of the passenger seats leather and the usual minor parking lot dings and stuff like that. If your expecting a "perfect" car then go to a dealership, just make sure to take twice as much cash with you as what our reserve is because that's what it will cost you. There is an almost identical SC2, same color and everything, on a local lot here in town that's one year older and has 12,000 fewer miles, but at $5,495 it's also more than twice what our reserve is. So seriously, this is a nice, reliable, economical, sporty car that's really fun to drive and gets really great gas mileage, but she's now 11 years old and has not been restored in any way so she's not cosmetically perfect, so please don't bid expecting perfection. What you see is what you get, I took the photos just a couple of hours ago and have posted them without any kind of editing, what you see is what you get. I tried to make sure any known flaws such as the routine mild wear on one the side of the seat on one side was visible in the photos. I did notice after posting the photos that our cameras lens apparently has some dried water spots that showed up as reflective snowflake-like patterns in a few of the pictures but I think everyone can tell that they're just spots on the camera lens and not something on the Saturn itself. Sorry about that, the last time we used the camera we were boating at the lake on the 4th of July with family being pulled on water toys and I guess the camera got sprayed a little without our realizing. The most noticable place it happened is the interior pictures I assume because the automatic flash must have fired when taking those pictures making the spots more noticable. If someone is concerned about it I can go back now that I've cleaned the camera lense and take those photos over. If anyone lives close enough and wants to come drive it before the end of the auction feel free to contact us. Same goes for any questions. Beyond that we expect the winning bidder to pick her up within 7 days of the end of the auction and if it's going to be more then three days before you can pick her up we'd like a $500 deposit so we know your serious. She's a used car so we're of course selling her as is without any warrantee or guarantees, written, expressed, or implied. If you want to have her inspected at your own expense before you bid then please contact us and we can figure out a date and time. If the winning bidder is from out of state and wants to fly into the Little Rock National airport I can meet you for $50 extra so I can pay someone from our church to follow me to the airport and then drive me back home afterward because it's about a 240 mile round trip and my wife can no longer drive, which is why the little car is for sale in the first place. We also plan on calling in an ad to the local paper this week so we reserve the right to end the auction early in the event of a local sale. Additional Info: Someone ask and I guess I didn't think to make it clear but Yes, she does indeed have a Leather interior with the top of the line trim, which brings me to something else that I also found out after yet someone elses question. The 2 in SC2 does not stand for 2 door or 2nd generation as my wife and I have always believed. It is true that she's a 2 door and '99 was the first year of the 2nd generation of the SC model, but the 2 apparently stands for the trim level, the S of course stands for Saturn and the C does stands for Coupe, but the 2 denotes that it's the top of the line model with nicer trim and a more powerful engine. Apperantly the SC1 was also still available but had more basic trim and a less powerful engine. A 3rd door option was also made available in '99 but the website I found says that in the very first years the third door was only available on the SC1 model and not the SC2 model, which seems odd but the website said that it was believed to be because Saturn may have felt that the 3rd door was still more of a curiosity that college students and younger people purchacing the lower-end SC1 model would be attracted to and not something the "adult" purchasers of the higher-end SC2 models would desire and the 3rd door was only offered on the SC2 models later on. I don't know how accurate the websites information is but that certainly sounds like a corporate mentality. So after owning her for years we've now learnd something new about our little Saturn right here at the end when we're forced to sell her.
