Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1985 Jeep Wagoneer with a Mercedes turbocharged 3.0 L diesel engine. The transmission is a GM 700R4 overdrive with a GM transfer case. The body is rust free. The body has 145,000 miles on it. The engine has about 110,000 miles on it. The mileage of the transmission and transfer case is unknown. The following parts are new: 1)Exhaust system 2)Battery 3)Starter 4)Radiator 5)Torque Converter 6)Air Cleaner 7)Engine to trans adapter kit ($1,000) 8)Transmission crossmember mount 9)Transmission cooling lines 10)Engine oil cooler and braided steel lines 11)Transmission fluid and filter 12)Rear driveshaft U-joints The engine and trans are connected with a custom made adapter plate. The kit included the torque converter and the starter. The starter is a high-torque gear reduction starter for a small block Chevy. The motor mounts and pitman arm are custom made to allow the engine to fit. The cooling fan and torque converter lock-up are controlled with toggle switches. There is an air breather attached to the hood to allow for the "bump" at the front of the engine to clear the hood. This vehicle gets about 20 MPG city fuel mileage. The glow plug circuit works just like it did in the Mercedes. There is a blue LED on the dash for the "wait" light. The torque converter is a lockup converter with about 1800 RPM stall speed. The vehicle is 25 years old, it needs a few things: 1)The headliner sags 2)Some of the fabric is stained 3)Some of the vinyl is cracked/faded 4)The transfer case only goes into 2WD HIGH AND 4WD HIGH (no neutral or 4 low) 5)The washer fluid reservoir leaks around the pump (the reservoir is not damaged or cracked) 6)The neutral safety switch and the backup lights have been bypassed (due to the transmission swap) 7)The tachometer works but does not go above 2000 RPM 8)The paint is faded and oxidized in spots 9)The weatherstripping around the windows needs to be replaced This is a one of a kind vehicle and turns quite a few heads. I have tried my best to describe the vehicle in detail. If you have any questions: E-mail me at jlguler@gmail.com, or call (815) 637-1348 after 5 PM central time. Thanks for looking and good luck!!!!! John
