1961 Chevrolet Corvette Check NADA Values: Low Book is $38K, High Book is $74K, Avg is $55K Look at NADA and you will see for yourself. This stunning C1 Vette is definitely in Average to Above Average Grading. Please read below for complete details 1961 Chevy Corvette Here is a brief description of how I took the photos shown: Engine: I started on Drivers side and then worked over to passenger’s side. Exterior:I started at the front. I then worked my way up the drivers side, around the back, and down the passenger side to the front again. Undercarriage:I started from the rear of the car, worked my way up the drivers side, under the front end, and then down the passenger’s side. I was just pointing and clicking as I could not really focus the camera to see what I was taking pictures of. Interior: I started on the passenger side, and then moved to the drivers side. Convertible Top: I started on the driver’s side and then moved to the passenger’s side. Trunk: I started with the trunk mat in place, then lifted the trunk mat, took some pics on both passenger and drivers side, then lifted the spare tire wood cover and took a couple pics. All pics can be emailed to you if you so desire. Just shoot me an email thru eBay. I purchased the vehicle late in summer 2008 from a Corvette Broker. I ended up tracking the previous owner down and spoke with him shortly after I purchased the car. He had said he owned the car for almost 30 years and knows every nut and bolt on it. He owned a large mechanics shop in the Northeast and stated the only reason he sold the car was he went through a very nasty divorce and had to liquidate everything, including his business and all toys. Here is what he told me: Car has been completely gone over during his ownership. Top is about 5 years old. Car is originally a dual carb car. Now has a 350 in it (did not know mileage on engine). He rebuilt the transmission and rearend about 7 or 8 years ago. Paint is about 20 years old. He rarely drove the car, just tinkered with it. If I recall correctly, he said he put 25K miles on it in the 30 years he owned it. Now my input: The car runs and drives great. The exterior is Honduras Maroon and the interior is Black. The car has 98,900 miles on it, and is believed to be correct. It smokes a little on start up. It does not leak any fluids. I had it parked in my garage since purchase, and have probably driven it less than 500 miles since I purchased it 2 years ago (work, wife & kids = absolutely no time --- ha ha ha). In fact, this past weekend I started it up and pulled it out the garage where it has been sitting untouched since March, and it fired right up, and the floor underneath was spotless. It has an aftermarket AM/FM stereo in it, but everything else looks original / authentic. The car looks to have been completely restored in the not so distant past (within 5-10 yrs). All the front end looks new. The entire drivetrain looks new, the exhaust looks new. All the lights work. The turn signal switch on the steering column is a little loose, don’t know if it is missing a screw or what. All the gauges work except the Tach. The previous owner said the tach runs off of a generator, and he switched it out to an alternator and never hooked the tach back up. The clock does not work either. There is a large (about 4 inch diameter) air hose running down the passenger side in the engine compartment that is split……I guess that is for the heater, not sure. The interior is like new. The top is like new. The body is in great shape. The paint is glazing a little, but looks great driving down the road. There are some minor touchups here and there, but again, it is an older paint job. The floor and frame look solid, no rust or rot. In fact, the entire undercarriage looks close to what a new car would look like. It has 4 wheel drum brakes on it that stop the car just fine. The tires are white walls and are in good shape. The wheels are the original steel corvette wheels with original hubcaps. All of the chrome is in excellent shape, no pitting or rusting anywhere. All the rubber seals are in good shape, with many of them looking almost new. It has a 4 speed transmission with a Hurst shifter. The clutch seems very strong and absolutely no play in it. The engine, as stated above is a 350 with a 4 barrel carb on it. Gas mileage is about 12-15 MPG. The car drives straight with no pulling in any direction. This car cruises down the highway with no problems other than everyone looking at you!!!
