Vehicle Detail

1968 Ford Mustang Classic Autoworx is proud to offer this beautiful and super original San Jose, Ca. built 1968 Ford Mustang for sale/ auction . It’s very rare to come across classics Mustang’s such as this, with everyone building restomods and with the pure amount of aftermarket parts that have been available for these cars over the years, yet here we have it… a virtually unmolested, stock C-code 1968 Ford Mustang. Still paired with it’s numbers matching 289 V8 and C4 automatic transmission, this car is a time capsule with 1 repaint in it’s original color, Pebble Beige. The same family had owned this car in Arizona for 25+ years! PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO VIEW THE LARGE PHOTOS THAT HAVE BEEN LISTED HERE FOR YOUR CONVIENENCE, THEY CLEARLY SHOW THE VEHICLE BETTER THAN I COULD DESCRIBE IN THIS LISTING. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING. The Mustang in itself is an iconic vehicle. Classic Mustangs are a great investment, as well as a lot of fun to enjoy. Having owned numerous Muscle Cars over the years, of multiple makes, body styles and options, Mustangs still remain one of our personal favorites for pure enjoyment. Especially when they are optioned like this car is: 289 V8, C4 automatic transmission, Power Steering, A/C and Exterior Décor Package. Like all of the cars we sell, this one is priced below market value, so get it before the market increases further, every year these cars continue to go up and when the fad cars such as restomods and eleanors are no longer popular, the original cars such as this will be the sought after cars for collectors. They are only original once!!! The Mustang has been ONE FAMILY OWNED for the last 25+ years. The car was stated by the previous owner to have been restored to its current condition in the late 1990’s and has been lovingly cared for, driven rarely but always started and maintained. Less than 10,000 miles since restoration. Warranty Number: 8R01C105911 Year: 8 1968 Plant: R San Jose, CA Body Series: 01 2 Door Hardtop Engine: C 289 2v V8 Unit: 105911 105911 Miscellaneous Vehicle Data Body: 65A 2 Door Hardtop, Standard Interior Color: 6 Pebble Beige Trim: 2A Black Crinkle Vinyl and Black Kiwi Vinyl, Standard Interior Date: 15J September 15, 1967 D.S.O: 71 Los Angeles Axle: 2 2.79:1, Conventional Trans: W C4 Automatic BODY/ PAINT: The paint on the car is about 12 years old. It sat in the garage and over the years it picked up a couple knicks and scratches. Most notably on the left front fender under the running light/ front bumper. Overall the car looks great and has a nice shine to it. INTERIOR: The interior has had a little work done to it over the years. The seat covers are original and are in good shape, aside from the drivers seat which has tears on the seat bottom. The carpet is in good shape and was replaced 12 or so years ago along with the door panels and headliner which are still in good shape as well as the sun visors. The original dash is nice and straight. The car still has it’s original steering wheel. The dash lights and gauges all work properly. The turn signal cam is not functional. The only owner modification is the CD player and speakers which was never finished being installed and according to the previous owner, the power wire needs to be hooked up to a constant power source. DRIVELINE: The engine is a Challenger 289 V8. Featuring the original/ original style 2v carburetor which was rebuilt at the same time as the engine, according to the previous owner. The car runs great, features A/C (needs recharge and new vent tubes under the dash), power steering and does not have disc brakes. The car also has the original aircleaner assembly and is a fantastic example of what a classic Mustang looked like under the hood when new. The C4 Automatic trans was also rebuilt and operates beautifully in either full automatic or manually upshifting/ downshifting. The rear differential is a stock 8in. with a conventional rear axle and 2.79:1 gearing. Brakes, Steering, Suspension and Underbody: The car has stock style suspension, most of the bushings look to have been replaced during restoration a number of years ago but are certainly not new. The brakes are drum all the way around but seems to stop well and straight. Steering is acceptable given the vehicles age without excessive slop. The car has power steering which is fully functional. The underbody of the car appears clean and dry. The frame rails appear to be straight. Let me state this as a disclaimer: This is not a rotisserie built, nut and bolt, frame off or body off restored show car. This car is mostly original as is. Any ideas that this car will be unloaded and be immaculate and flawless, you’ll likely be disappointed. We have taken a hit recently on our feedback due to a buyer who didn’t want to fly out and examine the car in person before buying. We encourage you to come view the car in person BEFORE BIDDING. If you choose not to, then you are acknowledging that you accept the car in it’s current state with your winning bid/ Buy It Now purchase. The vehicle is sold AS IS. It is used and is not fully restored. Yes, its fun and could happily be enjoyed as is. The car looks good and is a functional driver and it comes with a clean Arizona title in my company name.
