Description: This Suzuki V-Strom is advertised as a dual sport. It is less than 500lbs wet and has an available gross weight of almost 1000lbs. It is very light and nimble. The bike has a "standard" riding position with a very high seat height. I have never had a need of any more torque or horse power than what this bike produces. History: I bought this bike new in the summer of 2003 from the local Suzuki dealership here in Sioux City, IA. I also purchased the luggage set from the dealership at that time. I estimate 90% of the miles on it are from me riding back and forth to Texas during the summers. I bought a new 2007 V-Strom in 09 but just couldn't part with my 03. I have just retired from the military and need to sell my 03 V-Strom. Again, I was the only owner of the bike and loved it so much I bought the same bike again just newer. The bike has been very well taken care of and always garaged. After the initial warranty expired I changed the oil/filter myself every 2000 - 3000 miles. I have used Mobile 1 Fully synthetic since about 8K on the bike. I have also changed the plugs twice since I have had it, although the second time, about 5K ago, they didn't really need it. About 15K ago I put a K&N high performance air filter in it. The dealer has always replaced chains, sprockets and tires. Condition: First I want to stress that the bike starts and runs awesome. We had a hard winter and it stayed in storage for three months but started right off the bat when I got it out. Mechanically I have never done anything to it but tune-up things and tires/chain/sprockets. I hardly ever used the side rack bags, but always used the trunk. The trunk has some scratches from frequent use, but nothing major. The side bags are in excellent shape. There is a small, maybe 1" scratch on the plastic fairing piece on lower right front. I think one of the pictures shows it. This was from a ladder I was getting out of my garage. Although never laid down, it did fall over on me at a convenience store. The bike wasn't even running, I just had some other stuff in my hands and it got too far over. Anyway, it barely scratched the edge of the rear view mirror, but it did crack the blinker. I used the opportunity to put some cool after market blinkers on it that look great and work fine. The back brakes have less than 100 miles on them. The back tire has about 500 miles on it. I would change the front tire and brakes in about 3000 miles. Besides all that it is in excellent shape for 38K miles. Very low reserve! Remember you are getting the bike and the luggage set. The luggage set was made for Suzuki and was about $900 new. Please ask if you want any more information or additional photos. On Aug-03-10 at 13:59:54 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to add a couple minor things: - I changed the oil/filter for the sell and has less than 10 miles on the change. - The seat is practically new with only about 1000 miles on it. (Swapped my custom Corbin seat from 03 to new one and new one to 03.) - The windscreen is the stock original with less than 200 miles on it. (Bought oversized one when new and put the original back on for sell.) - The two helmets were to depict capacity of trunk. They are not included. - The front blinkers are the aftermarket ones, the back are original.
