Vehicle Detail

1983 Jeep J20 Heavy Duty 3/4 ton Four Wheel Drive LWB Pickup with 360 (5.9L) V8, three speed manual transmission, limited slip Dana 60 axles, heavy duty suspension, towing package, and I believe Warn made the original locking hubs. This is the fairly rare J20 heavy duty three-quarter ton model and not the normal J10 half-ton model. Factory bucket seats with flip-down arm rest, full instrumentation, and even the original Jeep radio. This entire Jeep is actually original, she's never been wrecked or repainted and the miles are actual, the odometer has never rolled over. It has a sliding back glass which has been in it for as long as I can remember but I don't know if it's factory or not. Short of a restoration she probably wont win any beauty contest but this is one tough, reliable Jeep truck. We own a ranch and this has been a reliable ranch truck for many years. We use it for general work around the ranches and sometimes errands into town. She is as tough as they come and we couldn't have asked for a better work truck here around the ranch and sometimes we even do some mild offroading with her just for the sheer fun of it, and in her own way she is a fun vehicle to drive working around the ranch. We have a large pasture in the far back corner of our place with a tall hill, the backside probably ranges from 45-55 degrees incline and though there is a road that slowly slopes around the side of the hill as it climbs sometimes when I have old army buddies or friends come visit I like to put her in 4x4, pull her down into low, and just climb straight up the steep side and watch as their jaw drops and they grab for anything solid to hold on to while making the kind of comments that lets me know that A) their life just flashed before their eyes, and B) they are very impressed with the Jeep capabilities, especially when we top the hill and they are still alive. She's an original Arkansas truck and has been in my own family since the early-to-mid 1990's and has a clean Arkansas title. The paint is original but she does have some rust on the sides of the bed where the inner bed floor meets the side panels, this is well-known location that's bad about rusting on these and this one is actually much better than many of the old Jeeps that I've seen. Other than this location, visible in the pictures, most of the rest of the body is actually solid. There is a spot along the front edge of the drivers door and back edge of the drivers side front fender where the door was opened too far once and they jammed together bending both just a bit, the door opens fine though and if you were interested in restoring it or turning it into an offroader I don't think the bend on either is beyond straightening out if you took the door off where you could get at both of them easily with a body hammer and something to use as a flat backup. The frame, axles, suspension, and undercarriage was apparently treated at the factory in a black chassis paint to protect them and it's done its job well. These parts still have the chassis paint over most of them and where there is some rust it's just loose surface rust that actually rubs off, nothing rusted through and no scale rust. She does have power steering and power brakes, she can be just a little cold natured in the middle of winter if it's been a week or two since we last drove her but otherwise she runs drives pretty nice and given the really heavy duty suspension even rides good. We sometimes use it for going into town to pickup horse feed and other supplies and she drives good on the highway. Not a luxury car of course but then I don't think anyone would expect that. I've never checked what kind of gas mileage she gets but the gear ratio's in the axles seem fairly deep, I'm guessing probably 3:73's or 3:91's, so the MPG's probably are not that great but then I'd hope no one would expect them to be on a vehicle like this. On the flip side however, you couldn't hardly ask for anymore pure, raw power than what this Jeep delivers. I feel she's a solid, reliable, tough-as-nails Jeep pickup that's actually fun to drive. What you see is what you get, I took the photos this afternoon and posted them without any kind of editing being sure to take pictures of items like the rust on the side of the bed. If anyone lives close and wants to come drive her before the end of the auction or if you have any questions please feel free to contact me. My wife is ill and paying for it is forcing us to have to liquidate many of our vehicles and ranch equipment so that's the reason for the sale. The winning bidder is expected to pick her up within 7 days of the end of the auction and if it's going to be more then three days before you can pick her up we'd like a $250 deposit so we know your serious. The Jeep is of course a used vehicle so we're selling her as is without any warrantee or guarantees, written, expressed, or implied. If you want to have it inspected at your own expense before you bid then please contact me and we can get together on a date and time. I'm not sure I would want to drive her clear across the United States since she hasn't been on the interstate in awhile, that is unless of course there was a snow storm in which case I can't hardly think of many vehicles that I'd rather drive, but if the winning bidder is from out of state and does want to fly into the Little Rock National airport I can meet you for $50 extra so I can pay someone from our church to follow me to the airport and then drive me back home afterward because it's about a 240 mile round trip and my wife can no longer drive. I do have an equipment trailer here on our ranch and a diesel truck so if the winning bidder doesn't live too far away I would be willing to deliver or meet someone half-way, please write and let me know if you need help with that and we can figure out a fair price for the delivery. We also plan on calling in an ad to the local paper this week so we reserve the right to end the auction early in the event of a local sale.
