Vehicle Detail

All original unmolested stock bike. It was the 727th Passport manufactured for the 1981 model year as indicated by the original VIN tag still on the body. It still has the factory Monza red paint as shown on the website Motorera.com. The paint is not faded and very shiny indicating very little sun exposure. Of course it has an electric start. Everything on the bike works from the horn to the brake light. It has only 8456 miles on a working odometer and is barely broken in. From the appearance of the painted areas, lack of rust on the metal parts and unfaded speedo it appears to have been stored in a climate controlled environment all of its life. Original factory items still on this bike that are usually worn out and replaced with non OEM parts: - muffler/exhaust system - seat and seat cover with original Honda logo - leg shield/fairing with all original Honda nameplates - factory Monza Red paint with all the original factory stickers still in place (for you Bloomington Gold types!) Unbelievable condition for a 30 year old bike!! Running condition description follows. Starts immediately with electric or kick start. Idles perfect even when cold (very rare for a passport). Runs through the gears strong, shifts perfectly. Does not leak gas or oil, does not smoke or burn oil. This bike recently had the carb completely rebuilt including a new float. It also has had a tune up with new points, spark plug and valves adjusted. A brief history of the Honda Cub/Passport follows. The top selling motorized vehicle of any kind in history. The greatest motorcycle ever built according to Discovery Channels Top Ten Motorcycles of all time. Timeless, bulletproof, indestructible, legendary. During the Viet Nam was these simple bikes were repaired by enterprising young Vietnamese on the streets of Saigon in the time it took a young GI to drink a cold beer! You meet the nicest people on a Honda! Debuted in 1958 as the Honda Cub, this fine example I have for sale was made three years prior to the last year the Cub was imported stateside, by then known as the Honda Passport. This bike even has the original toolkit! Its not a perfect show bike but is very close and would certainly do any collector proud. It looks new! It was ridden today July 27, 2010, and as always received much attention and comments about its original condition and classic looks. This is a dependable vintage points/coil/carb/drum brakes bike that you can actually work on yourself and never fails to fire. Illinois title in hand. I have tried to show the bike with close up pictures so it is represented realistically but I prefer a local buyer that can confirm the cosmetic and mechanical condition in person. You can read the Vin tag in one of the close ups! I will help arrange shipping if necessary. I can deliver it within the midwest and store it for a while in my climate controlled garage for a fee. Email me with any questions, for a phone number to discuss the bike, or for additional close up pictures (I have 99 pictures, all current, taken yesterday July 26, 2010, in my driveway). Look at my 100% positive feedback and bid with confidence. As this bike is for sale locally I reserve the right to end the auction early.
