Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1972 Datsun 240z, V8. This car looks as if a V8 belonged in it from Day 1 !!! It is equipped with a late-60's 327 Small Block Chevrolet engine with Aluminum heads and many other upgrades !!! This car has been sitting, getting very little attention the past few years, simply because I do not have the time to put into it. However, it gets taken out and driven around the block on a regular basis (at least once every other week or so). Yes, it is a running and driving machine, needing finishing touches to be on the road on a regular basis. I have owned the car the past 7 1/2 years and have photographically documented steps on EVERYTHING that had been done to the vehicle, including a folder full of receipts. I installed the V8 in 2004 and it has very little mileage on it since the install, maybe 500 miles. All items that have been replaced have been replaced with the best of everything. It is in the stage now where it is time to put the finishing touches on the body, and get it back totally together !!! I am at the stage in my time with it where I don't want to nickel-dime it anymore. The hard stuff is done !!!! I need the space, and I'll never get around to finishing it, and it is now in my way. Here is a list of what it has and what has been done to it : Engine / Mechanical: Late-60's 327 Chevrolet Small Block, very low mileage if any. I purchased the short block as being rebuilt. It looks it !! I installed the cam, heads, timing chain, and all other accessories JTR V8 conversion kit Rotating assembly balanced by a local machine shop Competition Cam - 1500-5500 Range, very, very slight lope in the idle Pro aluminum cylinder heads - 2.06 intake valves. I purchased off of Ebay years ago with very little miles. They were like new when I purchased them Weiand aluminum intake manifold Edelbrock 750 CFM carburetor, electric choke adjustable fuel pressure gauge Electric fuel pump Hooker block hugger headers 95 Amp single-wire alternator Flex-a-Lite Black Magic 150 electric fan HEI Ignition 1989 Chevrolet Camaro V8 World Class 5 speed Transmission Centerforce Clutch Assembly Howe clutch slave cylinder Hydraulic throwout bearing 2-1/2" dual exhaust out the sides Flowmaster mufflers The original radiator was sent out and re-cored to 4-core so it could be mounted in its original location R200 rear end with 3.55 gear ratio 15 gallon fuel cell Body / Undercarriage: All NEW frame rails and floors with all new heavy duty steel. All mounts, crossmembers, and torsion bars were relocated off the original frame rails to the exact location. New 2-1/2" frame rails were run the entire length of the car and tied into the rear crossmember. Floors were raised approximately 1-2" for additional clearance. Battery relocated to a custom-made spot behind the passenger seat. Spare tire compartment removed to make room for the fuel cell. All inner fenders and engine compartment was stripped to bare metal and painted red to match the exterior of the car. All suspension components were also stripped and painted as well. Complete Energy Suspension Hyperflex kit, with all new Polyurethane bushings in ALL locations. Heavy-duty front sway bar and related components. Doors were shaved and are laser straight. No other bodywork was needed on the doors. It has a custom Corvette L88 hood scoop mounted on it. I also have two other hoods for it as well. Needs rear quarter doglegs re-worked or replaced as they are showing their wear from its restoration in 1994. Electrical: Painless 18-circuit wiring harness meticulously installed. Rather than splicing, original solders were heated and removed, then the new wires were installed. All lights, gauges, horn, and turn signals, all work as they should. Autometer Sport-Comp Gauges Keyless entry with remotes. What it Needs: Tweaked and Finished !!! For the most part, this has been an ongoing project for the past six years. The body needs gone over, re-painted, and lights and trim re-installed in certain areas. The interior needs finished: Carpet, window regulators and glass re-installed, door panels re-installed, trim panels, etc. Master cylinder - it developed a leak at the brake booster and leaked all the fluid out. Wining bidder will also be getting a shed full of parts, as well as my folder of receipts, and my library of pictures !!!! Thousands of dollars were spent making this a unique well-built machine !!! I am offering this car at No Reserve !!! My loss is your gain !!! Good Luck and Happy Bidding !!!!
