History: The vehicle is a 1985 VW Jetta Turbo Diesel [1.6L, not a TDI], with 127,000+ original miles. I bought the car with 103K miles on it and used it as a daily driver from 2003 - 2008. Condition: Used, Fair Condition for a 25 year old car. Car is sold as-is, with no warranties given or implied. Currently the car will start but with some difficulty, because the engine is showing signs of wear [rings, valves] - it burns oil. An engine rebuild or replacement is needed. The transmission works and is original, but if you are familiar with these cars, you know that the gearing is too low [3000+ rpm at 60 mph] andmay have contributed to the premature engine wear. Many 1980's VW diesels [non-turbo] can go 200- 250K miles before a rebuild. Other details: The brake pedal goes to the floor; not sure if the master cylinder or a brake line has gone, haven't had time to look at. This means the carneeds to be towed, at the buyer's expense. The Windshield has a 12-inch crack and needs to be replaced. The air conditioning does not work. The Headliner has come unglued by the rear window and needs to be repaired. The body is overall in good condition with minor surface rust. Shipping: The car is available for local pickup only, at Zip Code 07405, in NJ.
