Vehicle Detail

1957 Buick Special Riviera* Estate Wagon *(No post 4dr hardtop) This is a rare two owner wagon. The car was repainted in the '80s shortly before being put away in 24 year storage. When removed in 2008, the engine was removed and rebuilt, brakes redone, and tires replaced. The original car still only has 78K miles on it. I gutted the interior, had a body shop repaint all removable interior trim and bed pieces, about 50 in all. I then took it to an upholstery shop and had the dash, carpet, door panels, interior seats, bed, wheel wells and kick panels restored using NOS materials wherever possible.(About an $8,000 investment) Interior completed 2/2010. The new engine starts right up off the gas pedal and runs like a new engine should. I just, last week, had the original Dynaflo completely rebuilt and updated with a new Gerator pump, clutches, drive shaft coupler ball socket, seals and more. While that was being done, I purchased another '57 Special from Texas and transferred the power steering to the wagon, and does it make a difference. I also did some detail work in the engine bay to make everything more presentable and greased up the frontend too. I had the torque tube stripped and painted, we also drained the original 1957 differential fluid,(installed a drain plug where the factory didn't). She has fresh antifreeze, power steering and trans fluids...and even some fresh gas. You can put some wire wheels on the old girl and she'll really make folks take notice. The brakes are like new and the car stops on a dime. I also had time to collect some accessories for the car including an NORS traffic light viewer, tissue dispenser, 2 NuVue spotlights (one is missing the mirror), and a rare original '50s GPS system...a Taylor Navigator Compass. Exhaust is quiet enough so you can enjoy the original AM radio. All gauges work but the fuel gauge is questionable. Clock does not work. Glass has no cracks or chips. Doors all open and close like a new car. Car's weatherstipping is original and could be updated. The previous owner did some repair to the front floor and then applied POR-15 throughout. Before the upholstery shop laid the new carpet, they put down new insulated sound barrier to help keep away heat and road noise. The original colors on the car are Garnet Red/Antique White, but to me it looks more like Copper and Cream. The repaint is now 25years old, still shines, but does show some aging. The interior colors are Saddle/Ivory. I also recently purchased a set or rear bumper extensions that are not on in these pictures. Only 6,817 of this model wagon were ever made and very few exist today. Please understand, this is not a showcar. I didn't own the car when it was painted so I can't attest to any body repairs, but considering how well it looks, whatever was done must have been quality work. I am including the other '57 Buick Special 4dr along with the deal as well,(That car has power brakes too and a very good engine/transmission). The outer body appears rustfree and the only ding I saw was in one rear door...so, yes, you get both cars! I did include pictures of the under body and the rear door openings where there is some flaking that you may want to address...or not. It doesn't affect the drive-ability and outward appearance one bit. Own a piece of history and load the whole family for the ride! Please feel free to call with questions or to make an appointment to take her for a spin. 414-587-1470 (Overseas buyers are encouraged to bid as well. I've shipped to Australia, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, and the Isle of Cyprus. International shipping quotes are available upon request through several International Transporters).
