Timeless, bulletproof, indestructible, legendary. These simple bikes were repaired by enterprising young Vietnamese on the streets of Saigon in the time it took a young GI to drink a cold beer! Debuted in 1958 as the Honda Cub, this fine example I have for sale was made one year prior to the last year the Cub was imported stateside, by then known as the Honda Passport. This example is in the rare factory color Special Silver Metallic only available in 1983-1984 as shown on the website Motorera.com. This version of the Passport is the most modern version marketed in the US. It has CDI ignition which makes its reliability surpass even the original models. It has a 12 volt electrical system (beware of the old 6 volt models). Of course it has an electric start. Everything on the bike works from the horn to the brake light. It has only 8290 miles on a working odometer and is barely broken in. From the appearance of the metal parts and speedo it appears to have been stored indoors all of its life. The following items have been replaced and are brand new: - complete exhaust system including heat shield and bracket - new leg shield/fairing (most of these bikes have cracked and discolored gas stained shields) - refurbished seat with new seat cover and passenger strap - refurbished rust free gas tank lined with POR-15. Beware of vintage Hondas with rusty gas tanks, carbs will probably need rebuilt. This bike even has the original toolkit! Its not a perfect show bike but is very close and would certainly do any collector proud. It looks new! The bike starts easily with the electric or kick starter and runs through the gears great. It does not burn or leak oil. It was ridden yesterday July 18, 2010, and as always received much attention and comments about its amazing condition and history. Although not shown in the pictures I do have a rear view mirror for the bike. Illinois title in hand.
