Vehicle Detail
Well here we have a 1961 VW OG Golde Rag Top Bug from California. Rag Top is Blue. I have a ton of Documentation and the original black and gold Cali plates that have 63 stamped into them in the upper right hand corner, Original owners manual and one nice one for show. This car has only been in WI since 2007 and it was rarely driven, I have the WI plates and sticker still brand new in the envelope, when I purchased this Bug it still had the black plates on it. Where do I start, everything is New,Door seals, VW seat belts front and rear, Interior is flawless,4 Piece Rubber Floor Mats, Bamboo parcel tray, Chrome Tunnel Basket / drink holder, paint, tires, bumpers, brakes, wire harness,Front Volkswagen hood script,Cheese Grater exhaust chrome dress up, Jack hole plugs hub cap puller, License plate frames that say "Its not a car its a Volkswagen" front and rear, VW Deutschland "D" plate, VW Mud flaps, Chrome door sill plates, Headlight Eyebrows, Glove box pull, Hood crest, Vintage Stainless gravel guards front and rear, also just got in a new tool kit from Wagen Works today, well you see what I mean. I cant say enough about the documentation of this car. This is a turn key Bug, needs nothing. Just get in enjoy this great piece of history. I would drive this car back to California no problem. Will be 50 years new next year. And these Original Rag Tops are very hard to find in this condition. "Unbelievable" is what people say when they see this bug. "Beautiful" is another one. I say someone is going to be extremely "Happy (:" when they get this Beautiful OG Rag Top Bug from Cali. Thanks, for your interest in my Bug. I DO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY BECAUSE THE BUG IS FOR SALE LOCALLY. Serious inquires only call 414-429-0037. Thank you! Bug will be at the 25th Annual Madison Classics Elkhorn, Wi cars for sale corral on July 31st and August 1st if not sold before then. Now for the information and story that goes with this Bug, Mr Frank P. Newton from San Anselmo, CA. 94960 was the original owner that bought this car in 1961, he was 54 years old, he owned and took great care of this bug from the day he bought it until the day he sold it to June R. Tolbert of Forest Knolls, CA. 94933 on 10-11-1992 I have reciepts for everything when Frank owned the bug, and the original Bill of Sale with Franks info and signature selling the bug to June on 10-11-1992, then I have documentation that Nance L. Miller from Mill Valley CA. 94941 owned the bug from 10-15-01 thru Feb 03 when he sold it to Mary Powell Lundgen from Bel Tiburon, CA. 94920 she would have been the 4th owner. The documentation leads me to believe that this bug has never had a pan off/ frame off restoration and that it is the original 6 volt motor and original color that was repainted back in 1988, Wow if you seen how straight and clean this paint is, I would bet the house that it was just redone. I am not sure if it was ever repainted since 1988 but it looks fresh inside and out and straight as an arrow. This bug was well taken care of. The Rag Top and headliner receipt is also from 1988. Frank the original owner put in some big money to preserve/restore this bug back in 1988 Frank was 81. The head liner is perfect and its white and done right. The Rag Top is Dark Blue and Beautiful. Its hard to believe that this bug is so nice. This bugs original 36HP motor was rebuilt at approx. 124,000 miles, that means Frank drove an average of 4100 miles per year in this Bug. And now the Bug shows approx. 65,000 miles on the odometer, So it has only 41,000 mile on it since it was rebuilt. Runs and drives like new, no shakes or shimmys, drives beautiful at 65 MPH. The bill of sale to June has Franks writing to look very shakey. Frank loved this bug and had it repainted in its original color and a new Rag Top and Headliner installed and a bunch of other work done to it before he sold it when he was 85 years old. Its almost like he wanted to do it up right so someone else could enjoy and Love it like he did for so long. Also on the original owners manual Franks name and Phone # is written on the front of the Handmade cover for it. Pretty neat History on this Bug. "Unbelievable" is a great word to describe it. Now I know why, I looked up these zip codes and the homes there sell anywhere between 500,000 to 1.5 million. So all the people who owned this Bug were very wealthy and this is why this bug was rarely driven and so well cared for all its life. I do not misrepresent anything I sell. I am a very honest person, if you don`t like it return it and I will refund your money ASAP. Thats how confident I am with this Bug. No Disappointments here. This is thee bottom dollar on this Bug. My Feedback speaks for itself. ALMOST SOLD< YOU MIGHT WANT TO HIT THE BUY IT NOW!
