Vehicle Detail
1750 GTV (1971) - Garaged for 26 years, with 45,339 original miles. All fluids were drained in prep for storage; thus car does not currently run. Car has never been driven in snow, or salt roads (Arizona, Calif & Washington car...) and was transported by carrier Owner had engine completely "blue printed" when purchased, by the Carroll Shelby shop Timeless Green/Tan color combination is original Owner installed a racing prototype mirror (can be removed ) Owner installed an electronic fuel injection system, but we have the original carbs. There is some rust, it doesn't appear to be structural, but we are not mechanics/body professionals The trunk is very clean, and no extensive rust The drivers door panel is missing (owner removed it to work on the drivers window, and cannot find it) TITLE - The original owner is older, and could not find the original title (and i believe him, as i've known him 12 years) The car has the last license plate and tab, and a copy of the actual application for certification of title still on it. I have a certified sales affidavit from the owner. This IS NOT a salvage title car, whatsoever. I will (and can) personally guarantee this. Money back 100%. An advantage to us not taking title yet, is that the original owner is still the only other owner of record We are selling the car because we need the garage space and don't currently have time for a "project." Probably, the "best" buyer, would be an Alfa Romeo enthusiast who wants a solid car, and is willing to put the work into it...to make it a great car! The car is being sold "as is." Serious buyers only. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. Must remit deposit payment of $1,500.00 via PayPal immediately at close of auction. Balance due within (5) days by certified cashiers' check or cash (US monies). Car released upon clearance of cashiers' ck, or receipt of cash On Jul-21-10 at 00:59:13 PDT, seller added the following information: JULY 21 - Owner Added Message CAR HISTORY- This car is a special as the original owner owned it as a second "fun car", and was an alfa-lover and long time member of the US Alfa Romeo Club of America. He put the car into storage 26 years ago to save and restore in his later years. Unfortunately, at 80+ years old, his current health, and loss of personal wealth have kept him from restoring his baby. He was head of the U.S. Dept of Transportation, and was well known and respected in his day by both Mercedes-Benz and Japeneese automobile circles. I have known him for 13+ years as both a friend and a neighbor, and a classier man you will not find. As for the MIRROR on top of the car... The owner installed a state-of-the-art (at the time) panoramic racing mirror, which allowed a driver to see everything at one glance, rather than use side mirrors and their preverbial blind spots The craftmanship is very good and it is very solid. Yes, it's a one of a kind... and it has been manufactured, engineer'd and installed first class. It's something which is very unique, and he found that within the alfa circle, it always intriqued many RUST ISSUES - As with ALL alfas, rust is a concern I paid an area alfa resoration specialist from seattle to come down and evaluate the car He felt the proverbial rocker-rust problem does exist on the driver's side, in that the outer rocker needs some attention, but the inner (structural rocker) might be fine. He was quick to say that anyone who had a concern about it, should try to take a peak inside to accurately assess what's going on Both the trunk and the undercarriage are VERY clean, as are the running boards, and floors on both sides. The paint job is 99% original, and the 1% is "touch-up" which the owner had done for maintenance/cosmetics CAR RUNNING QUESTION - As stated, the car has been stored for 26 years, and not run. The original owner knew cars from the ground up, and did what was required then to store a car He also had the engine fully "blue printed" by the Carol Shelby Racing Team, piece by piece When i first got the car, i was going to start doing my "own restoration" and the Alfa Club members almost all sceamed at me to 'LEAVE THE CAR TO AN ALFA PROFESSIONAL"--- And so i have... So that an alfa-"purist" can make the changes he/she wants in the most alfa-pure way possible I was told by the seattle pro that "he could have the car running in a little more than a half a day". Does that mean you'd want to drive it across country that afternoon,... no. But he knows alfas, and i believe him BIDDING If you're not sure this is a car you want to have and love,... then please don't bid on it. It was a special car to the original owner, and knowing him (and the car), it has become special to me. This sale to me is not about the money (as much as most car transactions are), its about me not having the space for it where we live, and that i'm not a car/mechanic type of person, and lastly.... i have two kids who need my time right now. So again, please don't bid unless you really want this car. Thanks. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS - Please Email me. I have tried to answer everyone as thoroughly as i can... But some nights it's a little much. So please excuse me if my answers may come across short. I don't intend them to be! tom olympia, washington
