Vehicle Detail
This bike was originally set up for Vintage Hare scrambles by the guy I purchased it from but if thats not your thing it could also be used for vintage motocross, trail riding or a nice restoration project. The bike starts in 2-3 kicks and this bike rips! It has a JEMCO pipe with a DG silencer and a WER steering dampner which is bolted to the frame and connected to the triple trees to stabilize the steering in tough conditions. Brand new front / back tires and the rear rim is an excell with heavy duty Buchanan stainless steel spokes. Overall I would say the bike is rough but it has potential. Let me give you the quick run down on this bike. BONUS: I am throwing in an entire bottom end for spare parts. One of the center cases is cracked by the fron motor mount but the trans, clutch, stator and trans is intact. Good to have if you plan on racing or just trail riding. INFO UPDATE: I have had a few people email me asking if I was sure this was a 1980 because of the side plate. Yes, this is a 1980 and for some reason the previous owner chose to put 1979 side plates on the bike. I am trying to track down 1980 side plates and if I am able to get them will install them on the bke for free. I can't guarentee it though. Aftermarket plastics is available through several web sites which I can show you. Video of the bike - (this video was taken 4 days ago): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JCY-ImNNGE The Good : New front tire New back tire WER steering stabilizer Engine runs very good Jemco pipe DG silencer New chain New grips Newly polished forks (see close up picture) The Bad : Air box was modified for more air flow (can find a better one on ebay) Plastics are vey rough. Rear fender is not correct and the tank has alot of scratches (can't see them in the pictures). Tank can be wet sanded and polished to look alot better Could use new F/B wheel bearings and a swing arm bearing kit. Shocks are old. would be ok for trail riding but if you plan on racing may want to upgrade. Could use back brakes Engine: 1979 bottom end with a 1980 cylinder /79 head (keep in mind the 78/79 & 80 share the same bottom end any way -runs very good though) **** All in all its a running 1980 CR 25 Elsinore and I have priced it low for a quick sale. These bikes are getting harder and harder to find. Its good bike to ride and fix up along the way *** Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. 386- 956-9037. I would be happy to tell you anything you need to know about the bike or send more pictures as well. SHIPPING - If you are in need of shipping you may want to check out www.uship.com . I learned about them a 6months ago when I sold a bike to a guy in Ohio. Its an auction style set up where shippers bid for your business. Once the bike is paid for I have no problem holding it untill you make shipping arrangements. PLEASE NOTE: I will be listing a new pair of OHLIN piggyback shocks (see picture)I purchased for one of my other bikes. They have less than 3 hrs ride tme on them and will fit the 78,79 and 1980 CR 250 models. They cost over 850.00 dollars new(not including shipping) and I am selling them for 700.00 in case anyone is interested. They are the best shocks you can but for an Elsinore.
