Vehicle Detail

1970 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ-455 Matching #'s Big Block with only 60,169 ORIGINAL MILES! Original one owner 40 years! This is a documented super rare muscle car with every single California Registration Card since 10/23/69. Both California Blue and Yellow License Plates. All Matching Numbers car with it's clear and original matching "Title/Pink" with "Protecto Plate" and all "Paperwork" and "Manuels" included. This Grand Prix SJ was documented by the PONTIAC HISTORICAL SERVICES on January 21, 2006. On Thursday October 23rd 1969, after a day visiting friends in Los Angeles, 36 year old "Charles Pla***ck" walked into the "Lou Fox MotorCenter" on High Street in Delano, California and ordered the real deal! A brand new 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix model SJ. He didn't want a 4-speed, but he really liked the "Hurst" styled gold and white "SJ" he had read and dreamed about in a "Car and Driver" article, The 1970' SJ 455 was rated as the fastest stock 0 to 60 or 1/4 mile car made in the USA for the production year 1970. It was faster than the LS1, Z28, 442's and it's baby brother the GTO! The Grand Prix was marketed towards the Apollo Space Program/Moon Mission and NASA minded proffessionals of it's era...i.e. Astronauts, Architects and Engineers etc. Charlie being an "Engineer" special ordered his new "GP" in (G) Baja Gold w/ (B) Polar White Two-Tone Hood Striping design w/ the "Hurst Equipped" look ...even though it was not available at the time and had the Dealership @ the Lou Fox MotorCenter order it for him that weekend. Charlie wanted his GP loaded, evident by the "original build sheet" he paid "big bucks" for it in 1969. A loaded SJ Big Block (XF-Code) 455/370hp 10.25:1 comp ratio w/ 500 ftpds of torque, Large-Valve Heads and a Turbo Hydromatic Transmission, Automatic Level-Control Suspension Package and Rally Gauge Cluster and Clock. He had (18) accesories added on, on top of the (30) or so already distinctive equipment add-ons new to the 1970 series...everything from A/C to AM/FM Stereo w/ Rear Speaker to Power Windows and Variable Ratio Power Steering!!! All together it cost him close to $6,000.dlrs w/ tax, lic, bs fees etc. Do the math...$6k in 1969 dlrs is equal to more than $60,000.dlrs today w/ inflation!!! It took Charlie just over four years into the fall of 1974, 11/5/74 to be exact... for him to put the first 19,200 miles on this beauty and another 6 years into 1980 to reach the 38,400 mark. By 5/11/85 the ODO had read only 53,575 miles and by the end of 1986 the Grand Prix was placed in "dry storage" for almost 25 years. The Charles Pla***ck 1970 GP SJ has spent it's entire life in Fallbrook, California 92028. If you are familiar w/ this area, you will know it to be an "ideal area" to store a classic car. Fallbrook is located approx.(35) miles inland and (45) miles west of the Palm Desert area of North County San Diego. It has an average yearly tempurature of 75 degrees Frht and almost Zero (0) humidity, which = equals NO RUST! Charlie is 77 now, but he still started up the GP every 3-4 months and would take her out every so often for a quick-spin, just to keep her happy. The GP has spent the last year and a half getting a complete and extensive frame/undercarrage and engine compartment overhaul. She was proudly displayed @ the Del Mar Good Guys Auto Show where she recieved many a thumbs up! This beautiful car still has original paint and even has it's original pontiac floor matts and spare tire and cover! The Firestone G78-14 Dual WhiteWall Fiberglass Belted Champion Tire and Rim. The Grand Prix comes w/ the (4) original GM 14" JJ Stock Rims, SJ Hub Caps and Front License Plate holder. The GP still has her original GM heater hoses and Gates issued fan belts. The GP is as close to 100% real as you can get...only the battery and a complete June 2010 Brake Job which includes New OEM Master Cyl/Rotors/Bearings/Pads/Wheel Cyldrs/Hoses and until recently it was stored on only it's second set of tires and has always recieved regular fluids Dealer Service. That's it, Time Warp...look @ the photos...interior is original w/ special order Strato Bucket Seats w/ Premier Cove Pattern Cloth and Expanded Morrokide. The (drivers seat and carpet show normal signs of wear and tear) but that is expected... as it is all original. No cracks in the interior Locking Center Console and the Cockpit-styled Instrument and Dash Panel. No crackes in any of the interior Door and Quarter Panels. However, there are (2) 1/4 inch sized nicks and few very small scratches and crackling in the original paint areas that have been touched-up. It's not perfect...but it's beautiful because of it's originality. The body is super straight and all the GM lines are true and crisp. The GP starts up on the "first click" and has that awsome and powerful burst of low-thunder from the Dual Exhaust System that only a "NOS" HO (High Output) 455-V8 w/ 10.25:1 compession has! This car loves high octane fuel. The Cordova Top and Door Panels and Headliner and Trim and Matts and Trunk Compartment and Chrome and Emblems are in great condition. All the Power Windows and Switches and Wipers and Washers work great. The Heater and Controls work and the A/C system still blows cold and works awsome! All the original T-3 Headlights and Signals and Blinkers and Taillights and Interior Door and Map lights and Engine Compartment Light and Radio are in working order. Everything works...not only does everything work, it works like a car w/ only 60,169 miles on it should! "This 1970 Grand Prix SJ drives super tight and the turbo hydro trans shifts very smooth, it simply possesses more pure horse power and torque than any stock muscle car I have ever driven"! It will just... pin you back! Buy this one before the big auction houses, ww. pontiac.com or ww.grandprixmaster.com gets it and then sells it for $35,000 to $40,000! A Reasonable Reserve has been set...Happy Bidding! This 1970 Grand Prix SJ now resides in La Jolla, California just 30 minutes south of it original home.
