Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is an amazingly beautiful, award winning, 1982 Rolls-Royce Corniche Drop Head Coupe (convertible). As the pictures show, this Corniche is a beauty to behold, and it's a dream to drive. It placed First in Class in two separate British car shows ("Rolls-Royce 1950 and Later" Class, at Ursuline College (August 1, 2009); and all "Rolls-Royce/Bentley" Class, at Shaker Square (August 23, 2009)) in the Cleveland area last summer. It currently sports a beautiful (and hard to find) Nardi wood steering wheel. I also have the original thin, black plastic steering wheel which came standard on the car, for the purist, and it will come with the car. The interior woodwork has recently been refinished to restore its original luster. All of the interior courtesy lights work properly. The heater and A/C work perfectly, as do the power windows, seats and door locks. The brakes and shocks are in excellent condition. The transmission operates with that classic Rolls-Royce perfect smoothness. It has a powerful after-market Sony AM/FM/CD stereo that works and sounds great (with an amplifier in the boot/trunk). Please note that the fenders, grill and Flying Lady mascot are all in excellent shape, with a few fine scratches on the fenders. The Everflex hood/roof appears to have been replaced in the not too distant past (but before my ownership) and is in great condition. The rear wood tacking strip at the base of the convertible top was replaced almost two years ago. Please take special note of the Mouton overlays for the carpeting. They are very hard to come by and extremely expensive if you can find them. Being 6'2" tall, I've had the seat tracks extended for more comfortable leg room in the front. The hub caps and trim rings are in virtually flawless condition. I have taken this car on a number of approximately 200 mile tours without the slightest disappointment. Needless to say, this Corniche is a head-turner wherever it goes. During just the past two years the following items have been attended to: * All interior woodwork refinished * Both hydraulic brake pumps rebuilt and new brake pads installed * Rebuilt rear spheres for leveling system * New rear leveling strut kits installed (2) * Numerous gaskets and seals replaced * New water pump * New engine drive belts * New spark plugs The car comes complete with the Owner's Handbook and the original Rolls-Royce Build Sheets (which adds a nice piece of history concerning the car). The paint is in very nice shape (hence the two First Place showings mentioned above), but there are the inevitable tiny paint chips here and there that have been touched up. The leather interior is in super shape, and it looks like some of the leather may have been replaced as well as redyed prior to my ownership. I have to part with this fine automobile because I have run out of garage space. The low reserve price is significantly lower than I have invested in this car This car is an award winner, but not brand new from the showroom floor. The minor appearance flaws give it some character, and are appropriate to a car that is 28 years old. Given the age, the car clearly comes without warranty of any kind, and is sold "AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH ALL FAULTS". Inspections, at bidder's expense, are welcome prior to bidding. The successful bidder is responsible for all necessary shipping and transportation. A deposit of $500 via PayPal is required of the winning bidder within 48 hours of the close of the auction. The balance is due via Cashier's or Certified Check prior to delivery.
