Vehicle Detail

My dad purchased this van a while back in 2003 and he loved it. It's fully loaded with all power windows and locks and it sure is a comfortable ride. Was one of the top of the line Caravans for the 1996 model. We took it on may trips, and it was in mint condition when dad bought it. Put strictly highway miles on it. Oil change has been done every 3,000 miles. What's cosmetically wrong? A few years after dad bought the van the paint started fading, and the interior carpet had some cleaner spilled on it and part of the carpeting started wearing away. The exterior paint has faded primarily on the roof of the van. About 2 years ago we had a really harsh winter and it got to about 10 degrees outside and the gas lid cover snapped off. Otherwise, for the year its in really good cosmetic shape. What's wrong mechanically? It has been a wonderful van and has never had any problems whatsoever until about 2 years ago the transmission went out on it. I purchased the van off of my dad then and had a rebuilt transmission put in it. It had been such a great vehicle for dad that it was worth putting a different transmission in it. I had to go down to Florida for a few months and when I returned it started right up as usual but the transmission wouldn't go over 40 miles an hour or so. The speedometer also quit working. Not really wanting to put another transmission in it at this point because I've got 4 other cars right now and am actually going to be moving to Florida this fall so figured I'd just let my loss be someone else's gain. Maybe the potential buyer could find a good deal on a rebuilt or used transmission. I know some places give you warranties on them too. I didn't get one when I had the rebuilt transmisson installed and I should have. I will greatly miss the van, but hope it goes to a good home for someone who can give it some TLC.
