Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1946 Chevy 3/4 Ton Pickup truck. I have owned this truck for fifteen years and sadly dont have the time to restore it as I had planned when I first bought it. Originally it had an inline 6 cyllinder motor that had a poor oiling system known as babbit rods which I blew up the day I bought the truck. I bought another newer engine (235? 238?) which I then rebuilt and put in the truck. This truck has a four speed transmission on the floor with a granny gear. I used this truck to pull a 25 foot McGregor sail boat with no difficulty at all except when I went to pull the boat out of the water. There isnt much weight on the back wheels and I had to get a couple guys to sit in the back and once I got some weight on the back wheels it pulled the boat out of the water without any trouble at all. The transmission is original as well as the foot pedal used to engage the starter motor. I put longer bolts on the wheel hubs so that I could put newer 16 inch wheels on it which has worked well. When I bought this truck it was completely in primer and there were no areas filled with bondo that I know of. I have painted it using spray cans several times over the past 15 years. There are areas at the bottoms of both doors where rust is eating through the metal. You can see the areas in the pictures I have supplied. There are no other serious rust areas anywhere that I know of. It will drive down the highway at 65 or 70 MPH and keep up with other traffic on interstate highways when running. I tried to put turn indicators on this truck six months ago and it ran fine until I tried to do that and somehow I messed up the wiring and it will not start now. I'm not very good with electronics and cant figure out what I did to mess it up. It has a spare hood, spare steering wheel with functional horn knob, spare tire and wheel and a bucket of misc parts. The windshield wiper does not work. The speedometer works, but is very far from accurate. The gas guage and guage that shows the generator function works well. The frame and suspension are in good condition. It has a split windshield which cranks out and the crank is stiff but works well. There is one small crack in one of the windshields. The original horn is in place and does not work. The rear window has 1946 chevrolet etched on it and there is a spare rear window as well. This is a complete truck with nothing missing. It would make a great restoration project for father and son or anyone interested in this rare model. Please, please, please be sure that you have the money to purchase the car if you are bidding. Remember that this little truck is 64 years old. Please remember that things always look different in pictures.
