Vehicle Detail
The reserve has been lowered for both Jaguars. Two Jaguar XK 150 Roadsters are beeing offered a XK150S Roadster and a XK150 Roadster. I have owned both Jaguars since the 1970s. The 1958 Jaguar 3.4 XK150 S Roadster, out of long-term storage. Numbers matching, totally correct. This is a very rare car, with the "S" emblems on the doors. 1958 XK 150S Jaguar 250 bhp, 3,442 cc dual overhead cam inline six-cylinder engine with three SU carburetors, four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 102" First introduced in the fall of 1957, the XK 150 was intended to compete against the BMW 507 and Mercedes 300SL. Although similar in its overall design to its predecessors, styling revisions included the replacement of the traditional cut-down doors with a higher, more subtle beltline. The front aspect was changed by widening the grille, the two-piece windshield was modified to a more contemporary curved, one-piece version, and the Open Two Seaters now benefited from roll-up windows. In fact, the XK 150 was the very first production car to feature power-assisted disc brakes at all four corners. In the spring of 1958, the high performance ‘S’ model was introduced, which featured a gold-colored, Harry Weslake-modified straight-port cylinder head that helped boost performance of the 3.4-liter engine from 190 to 250 horsepower. The ‘S’ model also enjoyed improved fuel flow by way of three large SU carburetors and had a usefully higher compression head (9.0:1 versus 8.0:1) with more aggressive cam timing. Every ‘S’ model came standard with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. All told, 1,466 examples of the XK 150S were produced until 1961, of which less than 1,000 were Open Two Seaters. In fact, this Jaguar is one of just 361 left-hand drive, 3.4-liter engine XK 150S cars assembled. The XK 150S was produced in 1958 and registered in California in 1960. The vehicle was bought by the current owner in 1974. The Jaguar was involved in an automobile accident in 1981 and put into storage in a garage. The body is in need of repair on the right side front fender, front bumper, bonnet, windscreen. The seat cushions need to be replaced. There does not appear to be any frame or chassis damage except for the damage to the right front fender and the front fenders support bracket and the support bracket for the radiator. The right front wheel A-Arm was bent and has been replaced. The right front wheel was bent and also has been replaced. The grill and the radiator have been replaced. There does not apear to be any damage to the engine or transmission. A new brake master cylinder was installed all four brakes were taken apart and the rubber was replaced. The engine was rebuilt prior to the accident. The head was taken off the engine after the accident and checked for any damage. Some cosmetic work was done on the engine that was repainted and the aluminum was polished. The body is in need of repair on the right side front fender, front bumper, bonnet, windscreen. I have the front bumper but it needs to be straightened. The car needs a new windscreen. I have clear title for the car and the car was last registered in 1980 The engine was rebuilt in 1981. The XK 150 S. is original with matching numbers for body, chassis, engine and transmission. The car has electric overdrive.
