Vehicle Detail
1967 Porsche 912 VIN-458310 Engine-750353 Paint- 6604 (Light Ivory) Please call me with questions. 320 49l 53l6 (central time) I recently pulled this car from 20-30 year barn storage. That in itself was an amazing experience, something a Porsche (or any car) guy dreams of as one car in the barn lead to another and then onto parts and great car stories, etc... As much as I wanted to pull parts from this car and use them for personal projects, I just can't do it. I'm hoping the person who gets this will put it back on the road in one piece. In an effort to keep your attention, I'll show you the interior after I spent a few hours cleaning on it with Griots. This picture shows the first time the car has seen daylight in well over 20 years. It was put away in the late 70's with only 69k miles. The engine has not been tampered with or started in at least 10 years. The oil looks very, very clean (golden). I had big hopes of it turning over but have not tried yet. Assume it will need to be taken down, inspected and dealt with accordingly. It does have a Bosch .022 Distributor, Solex Carbs and Knecht Cleaners on it. The only thing that doesn't look original to me is the oil fill canister cap. If you've had the pleasure of watching Harry Pellow's Rebuild DVD's you know these things can be dealt with in a fairly simple and straight-forward manner. Can it be restored? An elder in the Porsche circle once told me "anything that cast a shadow can be restored"! In the spirit of preserving the marque, this car should be given a fair chance, but it will take a big heart and patience and most of all to do it right, a thick wallet... Another good thing about 67's is the factory antisway bars. This car still retains the original brakes and suspension components. The car has rust in the lower 4 inches of floors, pans, rockers, torsion tube area and front fenders (you get the idea). Door skins aren't horrible, could be worked with. The center tunnel isn't too horrible either but will need some work. Hood (missing badge) and rear decklid (has badge/emblem complete) have a couple small dents but definitely workable. The roof is good, no major dents or rust, just checking paint. I was torn on whether this car should go for parts or stay complete. Depending on who you order (or if you're talented enough to pound out your own) metal from, the repair panels would be a ballpark figure of $3500-$4500 (Stoddard) or less elsewhere. That's without labor (unless again, you can do the metal work yourself). You can see here the outer fender is shot. But the inner seems to be fairly solid, an awl would not poke through it... The car is missing the front horn grilles, the rear tail lights. In the picture, the rear apron is not shown but it is with the car. It has a couple dents but can certainly be worked out. All original keys are with the car. The spare tire is missing. The hubcaps are with the car and in fair condition. I do have original replacements in better condition if you wanted to work them into the deal. The paint on much of the car is original and checked/aged. It has some fiber glass in the front fenders, rockers, etc. All places that need repair anyway... Someone sprayed a black rust stop in the rockers, fenders, etc in an attempt to slow down reality... The good thing's are: Glass is incredibly well preserved. The front and rear window trim are nice. The side window moldings/brightwork have some slight pitting but look like they might be worked out. Both headlights are complete and glass is good. The wiring in the car looks surprisingly new. The interior has to be the biggest plus. It's complete and looks very nice. It's hard to imagine this interior rests inside the car pictured! The 5 Guages, if memory serves me right, are a 67 only guage and very hard to come by. These are all in great shape. The dash has NO cracks! And the horn pad is very nice, no cracks! The headliner is good with the exception of some slight staining at the edges near the quarter windows. The trim is not shown in these pics but is with the car and in fair shape Tool Kit needs cleaning and is missing a couple items I cleaned up the front bonnet rugs and was surprised at how well they came out. Not perfect but hey, they are only original once! Front lower pan/battery Head light buckets aren't too bad for rust Rear Decklid and Grill. The Grill has a couple small bends in the slats (hardly seen in pic) that could be worked out easily This pic shown with thick, original south dakota barn dust caked on the rear decklid. This car is for sale outside of Ebay. Please be aware that it may sell at any time. It goes in and out of gears easily as it sits. I cannot attest to it's road going condition! Drivers Rocker Passenger Rocker Pan condition Torsion Spring Plate Area
