Vehicle Detail
Almost totally restored '57 Fairlane 500 Skyliner Retractable (over 95 % of it, that is) No rust to speak of, because I was there almost everyday to supervise personally. You can see what I went through for it took almost 3 years to do it and spent well over $35,000.00. Retractable top works good but a bit tempermental. Brand new tires and interiors. Recently re-built power brake booster & tune up. All the stainless parts are there in great condition. Bumpers were re-chromed about 2 years ago. All the windows/windshield are in good shape. Engine and Transmission have been checked out good by mechanic. It's been driven on a bi-weekly basis to keep all the moving parts in shape. As it is now you won't need to spend any money, but for the gas, to enjoy this authentic piece of Americana. Here are some short-comings, though. * The engine is not an original one although it runs like a champ. I'm guessing a Chevy engine but not sure. * It needs a new power steering hydraulic cylinder. It leaks a little but not too bad. * It could use a new pair of wing windows. Locking latches are broken. * Does not have Hocky Sticks. * Needs a dome light. Wires are hot. * Driver side window doesn't go all the way up but it's in a body shop being worked on. * Some more imperfections I'm not well aware of, I'm sure. This car will be sold to a highest bidder with no reserve. I've had my fun with this car and it's someone else's turn. And I need the money, too.On Jun-29-10 at 18:21:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to 62birdnut and rfh1943, the mysterious engine is a mystery no more, it seems. Very likely, it is a Ford big block FE series engine, developed in '58 and used in cars and trucks until '76. Comes in various displacements, 332 thru 426. By the way, this car has a 4 barrel Harley carburetor and the power brake booster is located inside the car tucked in under dash next to steering column. On Jul-04-10 at 21:28:01 PDT, seller added the following information:Attention to all!!!! I must inform you that I been looking for the pink slip for the past few days but couldn't locate it. I will have to contact DMV to obtain a new one to sign over to the potential winner. I hope you'll all understand the situation and if this mishap caused any hardship, I do apologize. It might take 2 to 3 weeks to get a new copy.On Jul-04-10 at 21:32:03 PDT, seller added the following information:Attention to all!!!!
