Vehicle Detail

1958 Packard 58L 4 door, V8 Automatic, 1 of 1200 produced, last year of the Packard.... needs total restoration. 100% original, V8 starts and runs good, no bad noises or bad leaks, trans drives forward reverse, in other words it lot drives, with the exception of the brakes..they do not work ( prob.might with fluid/bleeding) Very solid car, 0 rust in the rear quarters, all 4 doors, rockers, window openings, roof, etc, trunk floor is still in paint, even the spare tire hole holds water, beautiful shape in there. Frame is solid, 0 rust issues there either. Floorboards are ALL in great shape, some still have the gray primer/paint original coating, but do have a couple spots that would need some light metalwork, nothing warranting replacement of any pans, just a very few little areas that should be redone, very light work-, solid enough to jump up and down on anywhere --(see pics, trunk perfect, floorboards 95%) Interior is shot...seats, doorpanels, visors, etc all dry and would need replacement, although dash, gauges, steering wheel and all controls are original, intact, and most everything in working order (lights, wipers, guages, key/ign etc) Factory fiberglass hood in perfect shape, same as the underside of the truck lid, front and rear bumpers nice, all chrome/stainless trim intact and in good shape for the most part, driver's door glass gone, and pass rear door glass cracked, otherwise all glass is good. 100% dent and damage free, nothing looks reworked, repaired, or previously wrecked, straight as an arrow, 0 bondo or fillers anywhere----Driver's fender has a vertical rust line about 1" away from the door/fender mate edge (I'm told that was common Packebaker/StudePacker area) could be fixed, but should be replaced for a quality resto--(pics) Has factory dual exhaust, and I believe the engine is the 289CI, it's running on chainsaw gas right now, who knows how old...but she pops off and revs up strong, just fogs the neighbors out when you really get after it....Doors are perfect, open and close nice and solid, all door hinge/jam areas are rust free and solid, absolutely no structural issues here, almost unbelievable how solid this 52yr old rare bird is....just dry..very dry---Still has the factory "studebaker" radio, and a CLEAR WI TITLE that matches 100% with the ID tag----I've tried to outline the goods and bads the best I can, pictures can tell the tale better than I...Take a look, ask me any questions, Thanks
