Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1992 Mazda Miata. The car is in very good shape and I had every intention of keeping it for the long haul, but a relocation makes that impractical. After a long period looking for the perfect Miata, I purchased the car in Virginia in the summer of 2004. The car is black with tan leather interior, BBS wheels, and a matching hardtop. It was a "C-package" car, which was fully optioned, and now somewhat rare. It was used daily until the spring of 2006. Since then, the car has been the second car for our family and gets regular use, but has accumulated mileage pretty slowly. As of today the car has about 167000 miles on it. It has always run well and has no mechanical issues. Cosmetically, the car is in good shape, but of course is 18 years old. The black paint still shines and looks good, though upon close inspection it is starting to show some age (a few small dull spots, etc.). Really though, for a first generation, not exactly low-mileage Miata, it is incredible. The couple of minor cosmetic issues: a dent on the rear passenger side fender (fairly sizable, but no damage to paint and low on the car) a scrape on the driver's side of the rear bumper Both happened in parking lots while I was gone, but have never bothered me enough to repair them (see pictures). The car has no accident history that I am aware of. [Note: Apparently there is an accident history (according to eBay - remember to Carfax in the future!). Any damage was well before my ownership (beginning in summer of 2004) and has absolutely no effect on the car - cosmetics or driving.] The car has always had regular oil changes. It has new tires (less than 4000 miles on them), and had the timing belt replaced at 162000 miles, clutch and slave cylinder at 158000 miles (the clutch works well, though once or twice I have noticed some slipping on very hot days - not sure what might be going on there), and radiator at 156000 miles. The car easily passed New York State inspection last fall and a long history of service records is available. Additionally, the car has an aftermarket CD player installed (with auxiliary input), and there is a tan soft top in addition to the great hardtop. Overall this is an excellent car that is very tough for me to sell. If you are looking for a first generation Miata, you can't do much better. I am happy to assist as much as possible with shipping arrangements, but ultimately this is the buyer's responsibility. Please do not bid unless you fully intend to follow through with purchase and have a pick-up or shipping arrangement. Because of personal commitments, the sale absolutely needs to be completed (with certified funds) and the car taken by July 16th. Please feel free to get in touch with questions before you bid.
