Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is my 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe. I searched for 16 months for just the right Mustang, and finally found this one in California. I bought this car from the caretaker of the original owner. The original owner stopped driving the car when she scrapped the front passenger side of the fender pulling into her carport. The caretaker had it for 8 years, and then sold it to me in 2003. THIS Mustang does NOT drive like an old car. It is solid, smooth and super fast. Driving it on the freeway will make you forget all your troubles in life. I have tried to list each and every detail about the car, but I'm sure that there will be questions. Ask away, and bid with confidence! Everything works, unless noted below!! The car was all original except for a Springtime yellow repaint at some point in it's life. The paint is a little worn and dull, but is great for a weekend cruiser. I put a lot of time and expence in the car and I will try to list all that has been done to it since I have cared for it. Engine- was replaced in 2004 with a Ford Motorsports GT-40 NEW long Block. It has the 303E cam that puts out quite a bit of power and has a lopey idle. Please do a internet search for the engine specs, as Ford sold this engine for many years. The engine compartment is literally ALL NEW. I have to say the only thing not replaced was the steering box. New- Engine, 4100 Autolite from Pony carbs, Weiand Aluminum intake, Hi-Po cast iron exhaust manifolds, new Ford duraspark ignition system, Engine came with SVO Aluminum heads, ALL new wiring under the hood three looms, Alternator, Regulator, Battery, Aluminum hi-flow water pump, fan clutch, 3 core hi effeciency Radiator, all hoses, etc, etc. Exhaust is through new exhaust tubes with cross over tube and Turbo mufflers. Nice throaty sound, not too loud. (The neighbors will hear you though) Best described as nice everyday exhaust. Sounds even better on the freeway. (I actually tried three different mufflers before selecting these) Brakes- New Power brake booster, new dual master cylinder, new front calipers in 2009, new complete rear brakes and drums. Transmission- C4 Cruise-a-matic. I had the transmission serviced in 2004-2005 and had the valve-body rebuilt with a shift kit. The transmission shop really knew what they were doing, as it shifts great, and always seems to be in the right gear. It does NOT have neck breaking shifts, but is best described as crisp and firm shifting. The Trans was not rebuilt as it was simply not needed. The transmission also had a new front seal while the new engine was being replaced. Suspension/Steering- Rebuilt before me, all around. I replaced the shocks with four new K-Y-B Gas adjust shocks for a firmer ride. The ride in this car is great! The body is VERY TIGHT and rattle free. Completely new power steering system including all hoses, Ram cylinder, Ford pump, and the control box. No noises, or issues. Car has older tires, they are from 2003 on 1965 Style Steel wheels (all chrome) with black center caps, and no trim rings to fall off. Rear end- was rebuilt in 2005 with all new gears, bearings, and seals. (It WAS making a annoying whining noise around 25-45 miles per hour) I never ever drove the car 1000 miles since all this work, so it has the break in oil still inside. The tranny/rear end shop said to leave it in until I drive 1000 miles. Super quiet. Interior- Black interior in excellent condition, no rips or tears. I cannot tell if it's original or not, but is in excellent shape. The headliner is the original Moonskin and is perfect, as is everthing! The four seatbelts are a little faded, and the radio does not work in the pictures. I have the original radio included with the car, and a new speaker. This car has many options! Not only does it have an A code engine, it came with factory Disc brakes, Rally Pac, console, A/C,PS, and power brakes. The only thing I did was replace the black carpet with a correct 80/20 Rayon carpet set in April. In the pictures, the kick panels are not installed, but are now. I DID rebuild the heater box with all new seals, heater core, hoses, and even the fan motor in 2009. Reproduction(??) wood grain Steering wheel, new Alt gauge, and repainted orange needles, new bulbs, and gauge cluster bezel in 2009. Paint and body- Body has a few blemishes. First, the passenger front fender is scraped near the 289 badge. The drivers side front fender and headlight bucket was hit/scraped while parked in front of my house. (see pictures) The front fender has a rust bubble as noted in the pictures. Also the original quarter panel is showing a tiny rust bubble behind the rear drivers side tire. The front and rear glass gaskets need to be replaced, as they will leak in a carwash. I keep it garaged, so it does stay dry. I asked around for an estimate on this and the parts are cheap, like $40.00 for both seals. All other rubber seals are in pretty good shape, including the new trunk weatherstripping. The doors in this car are great! They shut easily and sound very solid, even the door stops are perfect and the detents work as designed. Why am I selling? Because I'm a 2 person household with 5 cars! I just sold an 87 BMW E28 with super low miles, and I'm continuing to "clean out the garage" I had a great experience with that transaction and want to ensure that this car sells to another happy buyer. I am close to Ontario International Airport, and will assist in picking you up if you want to drive home, or if you want me to assist in shipping with your shipping company. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DON'T INTEND TO FOLLOW THROUGH!!! Please ask any and all questions, and I will try to respond very quicky. I will also be listing my 1973 BMW Bavaria 5-Speed, all original and very CLEAN!!
