1979 VW Transporter Original 1979 VW Transporter - Last year of this Bay Window Mostly original bus, solid and clean. Original paint which shows its age in places, but overall it looks good and still holds some shine. Going around the body looks to be bondo free and dent free, has some dings and deep scratches here and there, but overall in good 'original' condition. Rust is minimal to none, very solid bus. Floorboards are clean and solid, wheel wells, doglegs, are all solid. Battery trays are still totally intact with no rust through. Interior shows its age in places but overall very well kept and maintained. All the original upholstery, rubber mats and door panels are all nice and clean. Dash board is in very good shape with no cracking. The electrical is all super clean and perfectly functional, looks to have been untampered with throughout the years. Turn signals, dome lights, headlights and brake lights, all work. Glass is all in great shape and all the doors are perfectly functional. 1 key fits all doors and ignition. Mechanically she is safe & solid, starts right up everytime. 2000 cc fuel injected pancake motor runs out very well, nice and smooth with lots of power. Brakes are perfectly functional. The bus would make a great daily driver or a good candidate for some long road trips. Odometer is 5 digits and reads 37927, I would assume add a digit to that. Overall a nice original untampered with transporter, ready for another 30 years!
