Vehicle Detail
1977 Datsun 280Z in immaculate condition! This is a Rare automatic 280Z! Most of the 280Z cars had manual transmission. This is a rust free car that spent most of it's life in California. You can see in the pictures the only minor rust places (pass. door at window, at gas cap, vent, small bubble on hatch by 280Z logo). Chrome has no blemishes...like new chrome! I have most of the maintenance records for the life of this car including a log book showing each time gas was put in the car/miles per gallon! Since I have had the car, it averages about 18/19 mpg!! This car only has 104,804 miles...just broke in for a Datsun/Nissan! (Still driving the car so the miles will change) The stereo is not original. It is a nice Blaupunkt. It has Bridgestone Potenza tires that are like new. The previous owner installed all new fuel injectors!! It does have the usual 280Z dash cracks but they have been repaired. I also have a form fitted dash cap for it but have not installed it. The car has the original spare tire and even the original can of fix of flat that came with the car including the emergency roadside kit and of course the original owner's manual is in the glove box. If you are looking for a very original unmodified Z this is it! This car does not have air conditioning and was never an A/C car. The only known problem with it is the Datsun 280Z hot start. The car does not over heat at all, the problem is with the actual design of where the fuel rail sits. For those of you that are familiar with Z cars, the fuel rail sits very close to the manifold. This causes a vapor lock condition even though it's a fuel injected car. The only time this happens (really hot days) is after the car has been up to operating temperature and you try to restart it after it has sit for about 10 minutes. The fuel injectors basically expand and close off and fuel can't spray freely so the car starts rough. When this happens you have to hold the gas pedal in for about 20 seconds until enough gas gets flowing and then you are ready to go. If you turn the motor off for like 5-10 minutes, this won't happen it fires right up. If you turn the motor off for longer than 15-20 minutes it will fire right up....its just that 10-15 minute window of being turned off that will close up the injectors. I use high octane gas in the summer. This car has never left me stranded and runs VERY smooth!! The car has no known leaks and does not use oil. This car draws lots of attention on the road and at car shows. The Datsun 280Z is becoming a hard car to find because most were left out in the elements and rusted. This Z has been babied throughout it's life. Everyone that sees the car says it's the nicest Z they have seen. About a month or so ago I had the car aligned/wheels balanced and the guy that had it up on the lift said he hasn't seen a car of it's age that clean and tight underneath. I tried to get a few pictures underneath. It's a great handling car. This is a car that you can jump right in and drive anywhere with no worries. It runs awesome and is very fast!
