Vehicle Detail
This car was a wonderful daily driver getting 44 MPG until I sprung a leak in the water pump, the engine overheated so I shut it down and put it in a garage for the winter with hopes of doing a Greasecar conversion. I had a baby in January and can't give it the time, so it's on the auction block. Interior is very good, paint and body are good for the age, no problems with tires or suspension (one of the struts is new). Has an FM cassette stereo. Currently the water pump is removed and there are TWO brand new water pumps included in the deal. Also, the power steering unit is unbolted to give easy access to the water pump. The transmission is very smooth except it has one worn bushing that makes it tricky to get into reverse. Put in a little work and this thing will go FOREVER on a shoestring budget. Or buy it for parts, plenty of good pieces here. Email me to come and see it if you like. These are all the photos I have for now. On Jun-11-10 at 06:04:23 PDT, seller added the following information: The car has a sunroof. On Jun-12-10 at 20:46:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked about the electrics, and it's mostly very good except the reverse lights were not switching on when the car was put into reverse. I believe this has to do with the worn bushing that made the car difficult to get into reverse gear. Also, the FM cassette player was put in by me and if I remember right it was somewhat amateur in terms of mounting etc and not really slick looking. There may have been a worn out speaker on one side, I don't recall. The car is generally a great car but it has a great many miles and I recommend you have a pretty good mechanical experience level and comfort level to stay on top of these "old car issues". if you fix the water pump and whatever else the engine needs, fix the bushing in the gearbox and reverse lights, you'll have a really fun runabout. there could be other issues lurking that I don't know about, so I'll make the standard disclaimer, the car is as is and no guarantees. But it is super simple to work on and of course no computer under the hood (or turbo for that matter) to make your life miserable. On Jun-15-10 at 06:38:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been talking with a friend who has also looked under the hood. He remembers no rust but he did not look under the wheel wells and could not open all the doors at the time because the garage is small. He says the engine will also need a head pan gasket. That is not a hard thing to put on. He will be there at the car on Sunday, however the action will be over by then. We can make arrangements with whomever buys it to be there to hand over the title, etc, or on another day after sunday, at a time to be agreed upon when the auction closes.
