Vehicle Detail
Here is a great 1972 Corvette Coupe project car at a great price. The VIN is 1Z37K2S501984, and the body tag is marked Trim 417 Saddle, Paint 989 War Bonnet Yellow, and build date of B08. This car has Power Steering, Power Brakes, Automatic, NOM, and a 3.36 rear. It has four original rally wheels. The previous owner drove the car into his garage and started a restoration. The car was partially disassembled, stripped of paint, and the engine and transmission were removed. The engine and transmission are currently out of the car. The NOM has been rebuilt and I have the receipts showing what was done and what parts were purchased. The receipts show that at least $1500 was spent on the engine rebuild. New parts have been purchased for the transmission, and include a new torque converter, flex plate, shift kit, filter kit, and chrome oil pan. The rear suspension appears to have been rebuilt and the brakes were rebuilt at some time also. The gas tank appears to be new. The frame has two small rusted through areas, one on each side in front of the rear wheels. These are very small rusted through places and in my opinion are very easy to repair, please see the pictures. These areas are so small, that if you are restoring the car as a driver, you could simply leave them alone and it would be fine. Or, these small holes could be welded shut. Otherwise, the frame is solid. I have looked it over extensively and found no other problems with the frame. The lower right corner on the outside surface of the windshield frame is rotted away at the base of the windshield. Again, I believe this would be a fairly easy repair, but would most likely require the removal of the front clip. The steel gussets and reinforcements under the dash inside the car are fine with no problems, so the windshield frame is strong and does not flex in any way. The rest of the Birdcage is fine with no problems. The body has old body work, but is very solid. I do not believe the doors are original to the car, and some of the interior trim pieces appear to be from a different car. The interior will need new carpet, seat covers, door panels, top dash panel, and other items. The center gauge cluster is just sitting in place and is not connected. The parts that are included are the radio, windshield trim, luggage rack, front sway bar, good headlight brackets with hardware and actuators, wiper motor, drive shaft, original fan shroud, seat belts, misc. interior pieces, and bagged small parts and hardware. Please see the pictures. It comes with the radiator, but it is a bit beat up, but repairable in my opinion. It is missing the front and rear bumpers, headlight doors, turn signal grilles, side egg crate grilles, core support, windshield, spare tire carrier, side markers, and rocker panel moldings. I am sure there are other things I have missed. This car rolls easy, steers, and has brakes. It can easily be loaded onto a trailer or transport. If shipping is a consideration, please keep in mind that the engine and transmission are out of the car and there are loose parts. The car comes with a clear Maryland title. If you are looking for a C3 chrome bumper project car, this is a great one at an affordable price that includes a completely rebuild engine. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you might have about the car. I know these cars pretty well and will be happy to answer your questions.
