Vehicle Detail
1975 Oldsmobile 88 Royale Convertible: This is the last year of the Olds Convertible that has 50,452 original miles on it. The car runs well and is in solid original condition. I have owned the car for 2.5 years and drove it home from Connecticut when I purchased it 2.5 years ago. It could use some cosmetic improvements to bring it back to its original stature but will be a fantastic car to someone to have especially in the summer. Mechanical: Motor is a V8-350 that runs nicely. Mechanical needs are small including the need of an alternator belt which causes the alternator to squeal some. I have replaced the alternator but the belt is in poor condition. The radiator is new but the car does have an Engine Coolant light that stays on. I believe it to be a small problem (...likely the thermostat). Otherwise, I am not aware of any other mechanically needs. Brakes: Brakes work fine and have always worked well during my ownership. The emergency brake is sticking a little but I don't believe that this would be difficult to fix. It may be due to the car being in storage during my ownership. Otherwise, I am not aware of anything needed in this area. Exterior: The exterior is white and appears to have been repainted with its original color sometime in its past. The Body is solid overall but there are some bubbling rust that is starting to develop over the driver's side rear wheel and the lower quarter panel. This rust is under the paint and has not broken through yet (..See pictures). There is another small rust spot on the front of each of the car doors. They are minor and should be easy enough to repair (...See pictures). Interior: Most of the interior is in good condition but the driver’s seat will need to be addressed as it is separated and in poor condition where the driver sits (..See pictures). The power window switch needs to be reinserted back into the driver's side door panel but is in good operating condition. Electrical: The power equipment seems to work well and there are no known electrical problems. The power windows work fine but the driver’s side rear window sometimes falls off its track and needs to be manually slipped back into place when this happens. This is not an electrical problem but more of a common problem with older convertible windows that slip off their track. Convertible Top: The Convertible top has a very small rip and one spot where it is folded up (...above the driver’s side rear window) . The convertible power top motor works but cannot lower the top without help due to a broken top cable. This cable is on the driver's side and should be an easy item to get fixed. Miscellaneous: The chrome and the basic equipment of the car is all in good condition (..See pictures). The trunk lock is bad and the trunk has to be opened with a screwdriver. I have purchased a new lock but never got around to installing it. That new lock is obviously included. The trunk itself does have some rust in it (...See pictures). The tires are good and appear to have plenty of life left in them. Overall: This will be a nice car for someone who is looking for a relatively easy project. Owning an older convertible like this is very fun and will give the buyer many enjoyable days during the summer. The low mileage is a nice benefit to this car and you should have it for many years to come. Bidding: I have tried to describe the car to the best of my ability but cannot possibly describe every item about it. This should be an easy project for someone and the end product will be well worth the effort. I invite you to inspect the car prior to bidding and you are welcome to ask any questions that you wish. Keep in mind that the car is 35 years old and that there may be things needed that I am not aware of. I did try to describe it to the best of my ability which I believe that you can tell from the very detailed description. This car is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty of any kind. Good Luck with your Bidding.
