If you're new to old 'Vettes then you've got a lesson waiting for you on how blisteringly fast even small block Corvettes were in 1969. This was when performance took a back seat to nothing, especially in a sultry shaped car with no back seat. The neck snapping thunder of this original numbers matching 350 has been rebuilt, restored and enhanced from the bottom end up. Everything is new almost everywhere you look and it's top quality where it matters most. Whatever makes this frame-off beauty go, stop, turn and just plain feel (and sound) so good has been put together better than any Corvette Chevy produced during this period. Rear differential; new and rebuilt. Transmission; bullet proof. Hurst linkage; new, tight and precise. And, when I say the steering and suspension system is brand new I mean everything, right down to the bushings and cotter pins. Grand Sport front springs, VBP rear transverse and every suspension link, bolt and steering piece make this 1969 Corvette the most buttoned down, rattle free C-3 available for sale today. This car simply does absolutely nothing it is not supposed to do. What it was meant to do however, it does very, very well. If you can get past its eye popping good looks, open the door. Feel how solid that is? This is what happens when pockets are deep and the restoration project is worthy. More important than all new is all functional, including things like the fiber optics light monitoring system. Step on the clutch and tap the key. A well muffled rumble gives just a hint of what this original 350 can do. The Hurst shifter is new car tight and clutch engagement is smooth and progressive. A quick look around to make sure all is clear (and the law is not in sight) and it's time to stand on the loud pedal. My first thought when I put my foot down in this car was, "this is the base engine?" I can promise you, there is nothing basic about the spine chilling acceleration of this stunning car but even better is how buttoned down everything feels. I've driven a lot of old Corvettes but I've never driven a '69 that did not rattle . . . until now. This thing is put together right and the power steering makes enjoying all this extreme competence . . . enjoyable. The work and expense getting the suspension, steering and drive train dialed in at this level can be felt through the pedals, at the wheel and the seat of the pants. It is no exaggeration to say that although not perfect, this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible is easily the finest early C-3 I have ever seen and no matter what your expectations are, this incredible car will easily exceed them. Want a sizzling Stingray restored to better than new and is ready right now, for a trip to the other side of town or a trouble free journey across the nation? (can you say, Power Tour?) I tell myself every night that I am not going to drive this car home again, I must get it listed for sale - that's the business I'm in after all. When you see this Stingray, red and ready in your driveway, you'll know what I'm talking about. Included With the Car are Receipts for the Following Items: Engine rebuild/head work (about 6,300 miles since rebuild) new fuel tank LOF/synthetic oil, flush/fill, new water pump, new belts interior, carpet etc. door sill plates, outside mirror Be-Cool radiator ignition kit, Flame Thrower coil stainless brake re-sleeve calipers, wheel bearings, brake lines, rotors, master cylinder, hood release cable, sway bars, gas shocks suspension parts/rear spring new u-joints throughout left and right trailing arm rebuild new exhaust system Grand Touring front springs/suspension parts HEI distributor, plug wires new front cross member Plus: I installed a brand new Edelbrock carburetor and a new air filter last month. I'm also including the original Quardajet, the original chrome distributor shield and some other odds and ends original to the car. From Pointed Tip to Stern, There is Nothing in Automotive History as Intensely Good Looking as a 1969 Corvette Roadster (very few restorations approach the exquisite fit and finish of this stunning Corvette) Here's Something Few (if any) Sellers of a 1969 Corvette Can Say: This Car Does Not Rattle (door function, hood, top operation are all smooth and tight) It's a Shape That Simply Can Not Be Improved Upon - Any More Would Be Sacrilege, Any Less and it Wouldn't Be a Corvette (fiberglass condition is outstanding and the sharp trim definition gives this Corvette a new car look from many angles) Was There a More Attractive Sports Car On the Road Then (or now, even?) (this fine specimen has been taken down to the frame and reassembled correctly using new and/or restored parts where needed) Do I Need to Point Out How Right the Body Is, Looking Down the Sides Like This? (it takes real craftsmanship and a whole lotta cashola to put a Corvette together with this kind of quality) It is Impossible to Take a Bad Picture of This Car (check out that hood and headlight door fit - you like those hubcap spinners, don't you) Did You Know That Although 1968 and '69 Corvettes are Almost Identical in Appearance, Only the '69 is a "Stingray?" ('68's did not have headlamp washers either - you can see the 2 chrome nozzles between each sealed beam unit) The Fiberglass Under/Behind the Grille is Superb (the head lights don't look very "hidden" from down here, do they?) Another Shot Showing the Beautiful Finish and Consistent Panel Gaps (We know that the pictures make the finish look "perfect" but "Perfect" means just that, no Flaws! Every car has flaws and although tiny and nearly non-existent here, there are a few tiny blemishes that have been touched up but you would have to be looking within 12" to find only a handful of them over the entire car. This is not the preverbal "20 Footer", it is a 2 Footer and proud to show off closely, just not flawless.) Some People Call it a "Coke Bottle" Shape But I Think it's More of a Female Form (the chrome louver trim behind the front wheels was a $21.10 option installed on just 11,962 Corvettes) Wow, Wow and . . . WOW - This Curvy Beauty Practically Sells Itself With a Never-Hit Body to Die For (besides looking sensational, a rack makes a lot of sense on a car with just two seats) Oh Yeah, It's Curvy-Sexy Over Here Too and It's Straight and Smooth Over Here and Everywhere Else I Think It's Safe to Say That There is, Nor Has There Ever Been, a Better Looking Top-Down Profile Than This (the 1969 door opening mechanism was simplified, eliminating the separate pushbutton of the '68) It Looks New in Here Because Nearly All of it Is New (and no, that great looking dash cover is not hiding a cracked dash and yes, the fiber-optics light monitoring system works like a charm) Not a Single Rip or Tear in the Upholstery, Door Panels or Carpet (it's not flawless but that's the first word to come to mind if you were asked to describe it) Hurst Shifter Makes This About the Most Precise Muncie 4-Speed I Have Ever Driven (did you know that steering wheel diameter was reduced from 16 to 15 inches in 1969?) I Promise; It's Not Blurry In Real Life and I Promise Also That All Gauges Work Perfectly This is the original, numbers matching engine for this car, including the intake and exhaust manifolds. (decoded below) RPO ZQ3, 350 cubic inch V8 300 horsepower @ 5,000 and 380 lbs.-ft. torque @ 3,400 RPM I Can Report That This Engine Will Stand Your Hair on End - This Thing Moves Pretty Much What Every Buyer Dreams of Seeing When They Put Their "New" 1969 Corvette On a Lift (everything is new and/or rebuilt including a pair of new Grand Touring front springs) New and/or Rebuilt Back Here Too Including a New VBP Transverse Spring (anyone considering the purchase of a vintage Corvette likes to know that all six u-joints have been replaced) I must make special mention of the very important brake caliper bore re-sleeve that all early disc brake Corvettes should probably get. These 4-wheel disc brakes as introduced for model year 1965 were virtually unchanged until 1984 and are powerful, competent binders. The problem is that as the pads wear, the piston seals can come into contact with the bores and with 4 pistons per wheel (16 per car) eventually the original design will leak. Not this car. The caliper bores have been sleeved with stainless steel inserts. This is usually a one time fix and I just wanted you to know I have a receipt showing this important upgrade was done. These artifacts occur particularly on edges with contrast and are most evident on full body shots. Should a serious high bidder need photos with better resolution, we are happy to provide these that will show the outstanding paint condition on this car. Not a Single Rip or Tear In the Top I included this shot because nobody ever sees it until I point it out. Headlight function is superb and 1969 was the first year for headlamp washers. The Headlights Can Be Raised Without Turning on the Lights With a Switch Under the Dash and Can Be Operated Manually if a Malfunction Occurs I wore plaid pants that day. This chrome louver trim (RPO TJ2) was a $21.10 option in 1969. Useless Corvette Fact: C2 Corvettes (1963-67) were "Sting-Rays" two words, 1969 Corvettes were "Stingrays" one word - 1968 Corvettes were not Sting-Rays or Stingrays Automatic Wiper Cover Works Beautifully and Includes a Manual Override Under the Dash The center black knob is the wiper override switch. The smaller left knob operates the manual headlamp covers and the right knob manually raises the wiper cover.
