Vehicle Detail

I just wanted to get her listed ASAP. I'll come back tonight or tommorow and give a full description. On May-23-10 at 06:47:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi. Up for sale is my 71 MGB. I absolutely love this car but if you have checked out my other listings you know I am liquidating most of my toys to make room for new ones. This is one of the most inexpensive vehicles I own and it is driven as much as all the others combined. And I do have some really sweet rides. I have taken about 100 photos of this car and will post all of them on photobucket later today. I will post the link to it here later. There are several things to know about this car. First ands most important, you will be hard pressed to find another vintage B like this with no rust. Wait until the pics are posted. There are about 50 just of the undercarriage. That is the first thing special about her. The next thing is when I purchased it about 5 years ago, the previous owner had just dumped thousands into her. He replaced with new, the Carbs and manifold, the alternator, the distributor, the brake and clutch master cylinders along with the rest of the brake system complete (lines, wheel cylinders, shoes, the whole thing), Complete tune up including new wires, new fuel pump. Basically, if it was mechanical and bolted on, it got replaced. Unfortunately, although he did a very compitant job at installing everything to nicely and to correct torques specs, he was not at all compitant at tuning. He could not get the car started. Thus giving up he put it up for sale. I decided to give her a try. I bought the car and had it shipped home. When I got her I gave her a good looking over and then put her away. I was impressed by all the shiny new bits and pieces but it was the middle of winter and I had no desire to freeze my arse off. When spring finally came in, I took one Saturday and brough tthe car out to the driveway. There I started my diagnosis. It was wonderful. I found the distributor installed 180 degrees out, the firing order incorrect. The brand new carbs were obviously installed straight out of their boxes (at huge expense) with no tuning adjustments whatsoever. There were sever other things that required adjustment like the valve lash, etc......but after about three hours of going over and checking everything out, I replaced the fuel with new and gave her a crank over. She fired on first turn and ran wonderfully. Afetr fine tuning her for another fifteen mins I had her iding down to 400 RPM without stalling. I just wanted to see how low I could go. Then I brought her back to dfactory specs and have not had to touch her since other than changing her oil every spring. After that I bought a few more things just to get her perfect. That included the heating control knobs, a new sterio and speakers (Which I left loose behind the seats on long wires so you can sit them on the trunk when hanging out). I also installed a tiny, momentary paddle switch in one of the slots too the far right below the stereo and wired to my remote for the garage door opener. Very cool install. How many 40 year old cars do you see with a high tech thing like built in garage door opener. The bottom line is this car is abosolutely rock solid and dead on reliable. I would not hesitate to pull her out and head across the country with her anytime. She is as reliable as any new car out there. She starts instantly, runs at perfect temperature all the time weather cruizing down the highway at any speed or sitting in bumpper to bumper traffic on the hottest of days. The four speed trans shifts absolutely fluidly. I have never driven a manual trans car that shifted finer. It is absolutely a joy to drive. She shifts so smoothly and easilly I let my 2 year old boy do most of the shifting. Once in gear it is rock solid. Even with my boy trying to yank her out of gear while driving, it wont move until I press the clutch. I've seen older british cars that for whatever reason wont stay in gear. I have no idea what causes that problem but you wont find that hear. As near as I can tell, everything mechanical is funtioning 100% . The engine, trans and rear weep a little but not enoough to even require topping off the fluids, although I do check all levelks periodically, but just enough to keep the rustfree underside coated with just enough of a fine film to prevent any corrosion from starting. She is always garaged with the top down. I was actually surprised I was able to put the top up and secure all fasteners. These things shrink when not used regularly. It was not a piece of cake and did require a little elbow grease, but the top went up and look great. If you put it up and leave it out in the sun, she loosens right up. The top is not perfect but I would rate it a 8.5 on a 10scale in appearance and a 10 in function. Once in a blue moon I get caught in a shower and it goes up smooth and keeps me dryer than my new Nissan Versa. I say that because in the MG you can roll down the window and still stay dry but the Versa soaks ya. Anyway, I can drive my boy for hours in this car and it does not matter how long we are out. Even if he falls asleep in it I still have to pry him out of it when we get home. He loves the car. As a matter of fact, this is the first time in about 30 cars I've sold on ebay that I have included a reserve price. The only reason I am even considering selling it is because I already have an identical car (Same exact color but a 72 model year) with almost perfect paint. The only reason I bought it was because it was also advertised as rust free and mechanically perfect. NOT, I have just filed a lawsuit against the seller. Aside from virtually none of the instruments working, syncros shot on trans, engine runs rough, and the almost perfect paint hides a ton of rust and bondo, It was advertised as having overdrive trans and wire wheels. Two things I was planniing on adding to my car at a cost of roughly $5000. This seamed like a better way to go financially. Well that didnt work out. So I really only need one car and its a tough choice as to which one to sell. In the end I done think it matters which because in either event the money from the sale of either will be used to pefect the other..On May-23-10 at 10:57:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Go to http://s828.photobucket.com/albums/zz209/westsolloway/MGB/?start=all for over 100 pics of the car. The bottom line is an excellent car mechanically and virtually rust free. All it needs to be a show car is fresh paint. I have made that mistake before. If I went as far as new paint the car would virtually be a show car and I would no longer drive it. I hate show cars.On May-23-10 at 11:02:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I also forgotr to mention the stuff from the trunk. I bought a urethane bushing set complete. I installed the upper and lower A-arm bushings but did not want Urethane in the body mounts. They are all there still new in the package if the winner decides to do it. I would not recomend it. Although the Urethane suspension bushings are absolutely wonderful for handling, replacing the body bushings with Urathane results in a very stiff and generally uncomfortable ride. The rubber ones that are still in place are fine and keep the car driving very comfortably. On May-24-10 at 17:47:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Hey there fellow eBayers. I am posting this revision to give the answers to general questions concerning all my auctions. I am typing it up in Word and am going to copy / paste it into every auction I currently have listed. I am selling virtually all my old toys to make room for new ones. I absolutely love classic and unusual autos, bike, airplanes etc. So every couple years I have to liquidate what I accumulated to make room for more. I seriously recommend dropping by and taking whatever I have for a test ride and thorough inspection. A couple years ago I finally built my dream shop so your welcome to bring your mechanic, knowledgeable friend or significant other with you and your welcome to put whatever it is your interested in up on the lift and go through it till your hearts content. I am not trying to hide anything. I take great pains to point out everything I can find wrong with whatever I’m selling but it’s always possible I may miss something that may be important to you. If you cant make it down but need a better photo of something or what me to look closer at something in particular, just drop me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to do it. I am a stay at home dad to a wonderful baby boy, 25 months old, so I am available from about 7:00 AM till about 7:00 PM just about everyday. So if anyone wants to come see anything, all I ask is a call about 1 hour B4 you plan to be here. This will give me enough time to put away whatever I may be doing and be there to meet you. I can be reached at home at 973-949-4803 or my cell at 570-228-1603 or west@solloway.name Look forward to hearing from you. Don’t bother calling ahead of time to schedule a day and time. I do things on the fly and only need the hour heads up. I listred a bunch this Saturday and Sunday but I still have a lot more I will be listing shortly including but not limited to a 93 Porsche 944 (very nice) a 72 Chevy Chevelle Big Block SS Clone that is a rotisserie nut and bolt recreation. Every part on her is either new, refurbished or rebuilt. She is the absolute best I can do and she will be listed soon. I also bought out a bankrupt local hardware store primarily because I wanted the hardware Isle (fasteners) I wound up with tons of stuff I will never use and will be selling all for pennies on the dollar some day very soon. Long story short, I will upload group photos of everything you can expect to see listed soon at :http://s828.photobucket.com/albums/zz209/westsolloway/MyStuff/ so stop by and check it out. I am a very honest seller and my feedback proves that. I have also been the victim of a scammer with a fraud bank check. This does not mean I wont accept bank checks for payment. What it does mean is if you plan on paying with anything other than hard cash (which we will take to my bank to deposit that day anyway to check for bogus), I will not release the title or item until the instrument has cleared, irreversibly. I have a branch of just about every bank within a ten minute ride from my home. So if you do bring a check, make sure the bank in question is close and open when you get here because we will be going there to cash it. In the even this is not feasible, I will deposit the item and we will allow it to clear, for two weeks, just to be certain it does not come back to bit me. I will be happy to store your item free of charge for up to thirty days while we wait for funds. I still must receive this payment within five days of close of auction. So if you are a scammer you may want to move on to another auction. In closing, Id like to thank everyone that took the time to check out my auction and I wish everyone good luck and happy bidding. On May-26-10 at 07:25:23 PDT, seller added the following information: I have also received a bunch of questions about the little black thing by the stereo speakers in the pics. Well, that is my bluetooth hands free ear thingy that I lost about two years ago. I gues that was the last time I had the top up. Anyway, I was floored when I found it sitting there while taking the pics for this auction so I had to take pics of it. Me and my wife spent several weeks looking for it B4 buying a new one. Just thought she'd get a kick out of me finally finding it. I told her I dont lose things. They just get temporarilly mis-placed. TOLD YA WE"D FIND IT AND NOT TO WASTE MONEY BUYING A NEW ONE !!!!!!!On May-26-10 at 07:56:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I got so caught up in the story about the kid that hit my car w/ bicycle that I forgot to answer the rest of the question. Title is titled to me personally on a PA Title. It is a regular title with a clear status, NO DAMAGED OR SALVAGE STATUS. As for accepting payments, I will take just about anything that is legal tender. Whatever way you choose to pay is fine with me; it will just have to be absolutely cleared before I will release title or vehicle. As for storage, 30 days free to anyone. Military guys and gals, I'll store it up to 90 days free. Hope that answers all your questions.
