AMAZING ARIZONA FIND! 1968 Ford Mustang, all original- Rust Free-Arizona Survivor! Classic Autoworx is proud to offer this fantastic 1968 Ford Mustang for your consideration. Before we get into the details about the car, let me first say, as a car builder and a dealer... this kind of find is extremely hard to come by these days. What we have here is a completely original, numbers matching 1968 Mustang that is virtually unaltered (except the addition of dual exhaust), has not been tampered with,  raced out, hot rodded or otherwise beat on. The car has been located in Arizona since 1973, proof of which is a copy of the 1973 title for the car. The car has never been wrecked, never been fully repainted, never had any rust repairs and features all of its original sheet metal. Add to this, the car features power steering and A/C and you have yourself a genuine collectible worthy vehicle. You don’t see them like this… this is truly a rare find. This Mustang features it’s #’s matching original 289 Challenger V8. The engine was rebuilt around 20,000 miles ago and has proven to be a reliable little workhorse. The car also features an original style rebuilt 2v carburetor, aircleaner and heat exchanger. The only thing significant under the hood that has been changed is the upgraded Sanden A/C compressor. It is now R134 freon and works great! The transmission is the original C4 automatic, which has also been rebuilt with the same mileage. The driveline on the car is original to the car and needs nothing to be a reliable driver. At the time that the engine and trans were rebuilt, other components were either rebuilt or replaced. A rebuilt carburetor was added, the radiator was replaced as was the fan blade which was cracked and an original fan shroud was found for the car as the original had been cracked. It was at this time that the Sanden compressor was added as well, for a more efficient A/C system. It gets hot in Arizona! Multiple odds and ends such as the distributor and alternator were replaced as well as the carburetor. We estimate that this is also about the time the dual exhaust was added which is nice but for the type of car in this original state, I believe it’s too loud. The mufflers seem to be bullet type race mufflers. . There is also an amazing amount of documentation, receipts and service records for the car from shops in Arizona going back to 1990 that will be included with the purchase of the Mustang. Since taking the car in, we have done a number of items to the car ourselves. We have rebuilt the power steering control valve, replaced all of the power steering pressure hoses, replaced the front wheel bearings, the fuel tank and added the original ’68 Mustang hubcaps. This is an “honest” car that has a time capsule feel about it. It’s not  restored but holds it’s own, still getting looks, waves and thumbs ups. The chrome and trim on this car are in amazing original condition, most of which looks as good as new. No pits or rust at all! Its questionable that the bumpers may have been replaced at some point, but possibly not. The tail lights and trunk moldings are beautiful as is the quarter window chrome, side mirror, door handles and wind wings. The body and paint on the car are original, so it goes without saying that there are flaws for sure. With some paint and minor body work, the exterior of this car would be show quality.  The paint is a cream color, Ford calls it Meadowlark Yellow which is a rare color. Please do not bid on this car thinking you are getting an unrestored show car. It has been used as a daily driver and has bumps and bruises from years of use. The price is set accordingly and it is a deal! The flaws that do exist, a person could miss if they weren’t looking for them. The car still looks beautiful . . The frame rails, floor pans, torque boxes, trunk drop offs, shock towers…etc.. are very solid, straight  and in good shape. The frame rails look to be perfectly straight, no damage from accidents or floor jacks. This is truly an original dryArizona car. Glass is good, windshield has a light scratch from bad wiper blades, no cracks. Driver and passenger side windows roll up and down properly, side rear quarter windows need new rollers. The weatherstripping looks to have been replaced at some point, but seems a bit dry. The interior of the car is original and in good shape considering it’s age! The carpet and armrests are the only exception, they was replaced in 2003 however the rest of the interior is original. A CD player has been added, as well as 6x9 speakers in the rear deck, however it is an unsightly installation and considered removing it before selling the car, but maybe the new owner could use it.  The dash is original and shows a bit of wear however it’s not destroyed. It does have a couple of small cracks. The gauges all work, as well as gauge lighting and hood mounted turn signal indicators. All door panels are original in great condition. The seat covers are original both front and rear and show the years of Arizona heat, both front seat bottoms are cracked but useable and the foam is still supportive. The interior overall is in good condition for a car this age in Arizona. The original steering wheel is in great condition. The horn works as do the turn signals and turn signal canceling cam. The headliner has a couple of tears but it stays up. Maybe an interior shop could stitch it up and make it last a few more years. BE THE ONE TO SCORE A GREAT DEAL ON THIS SURVIVOR 289 POWERED ’68 MUSTANG!!! Please keep in mind that this car is mostly UNRESTORED and  is not a show car in it’s current state… but it is a nice driver and anyone who has ever had a rusty mustang, will truly be able to appreciate how clean and dry this car is. You’re already $1000’s of dollars ahead!!!        This Mustang has been inspected for road worthiness by Mustang Service Center in Glendale, AZ. BID TO WIN!!!
