Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1973 Plymouth Duster "360" .Originally a 318 car, it now sports a mildly worked 71 360 small block. The car was in the process of being converted into a weekend bracket car. Exterior- Although originally brown, its now painted J5 Sublime/ Limelight green with flat black upper body stripes and "360" call outs on the quarters. Whoever repainted the car did a fairly nice job on the color change. It’s plain to see that the car was taken apart and done correctly. All the jambs, under the trunk lid, under the hood and doors were all sprayed properly. Its an older repaint. Probably done about 10 years ago, so it has its share of imperfections. There are various nicks, chips, and other defects. The paint is in nice shape, but its far from perfect. All in all, it’s held up very well over the past several years and hold a nice shine. Its been machine polished and waxed. I would call it a "10 footer"- looks mint from 10 feet. The wild green color really does draw a crowd at the local cruise nights. I get comments on the color almost every time I take it out. The floors are in very nice shape and solid. No rot or holes anywhere. Frame rails are solid as are the torque boxes. But like the majority of Dusters, the trunk has a small amount of rot in the spare tire well. See link with pics. Trunk has a brand new houndstooth mat installed. The interior has racing buckets with an original console and shifter. The dash has an old school set of Suntune oil pressure, amps and water temp gauges with a brand new Autogage 5" monster tach with shift lite. Steering wheel is a brand new Grant. New carpet was installed recently. There are two machined aluminum block off plates on the dash for where the radio and heater controls went. The rest of the interior is overall clean for a 37 year old car. Engine is a 71 360 which is painted the matching Limelight green. It has a Weiand intake, flat top pistons, mild cam, Edelbrock 750 cfm carb, headers, MSD pro billet distributor, 6A box and blaster coil, chrome oil pan, Tildon style mini starter and brand new Mopar Performance valve covers. New chrome air cleaner. Runs like a top with great oil pressure. Radiator is brand new along with the fuel and water pump. Trans is a 904. It has an 8 ¾ rear with 2.75 gears. Wheels and tires- rears are 15x8 special offset Weld Wheels with 275/60-15 Mickey Thompson ET Streets. They tuck under the wells nicely. Fronts are 15x3.5’s with 165/80-15 Khumo radials. Car has manual disc brakes in front. Car has manual disc brakes and 2 ½" exhaust with 2 chamber Flowmasters. It has a great exhaust note. I posted more pictures on photobucket here. Cut and paste this link in your browser- http://s482.photobucket.com/albums/rr188/mr-trishield/Duster/?start=60 The car does need a few things- It has a power steering box with no pressure lines or pump, so its esentially has manual steering. The steering box also has a good amount of play in it. The heating and ventilation system has been removed in its transformation into a bracket car. So if the car gets put back on the street, a new heater box and ducts with need to be located if you want heat. I got it like this, so I don’t have the parts. The trunk floor has a small tear in the metal from a leaf spring shackle failure in its past life. The metal has been hammered and dollied back into shape, but will need further reworking to be completed. There are no wiper arms or blades, although the wiper motor and transmission are still intact. The Chysler fender tags are missing. Please ask questions PRIOR to bidding. I tried to describe the car in general terms. If you require more details about anything, if there is anything I haven’t mentioned or you need more pictures, please ask! I will be happy to answer it to the best of my ability. Buying a car sight unseen is never recommended. If your anywhere close, I encourage you to come and take a look at the car in person. Or send a friend in the area to come look at it for you. I require a $200 non refundable deposit within 24 hours. The balance to be paid in cash upon pickup. I require the car to be picked up within 10 days of the close of the auction unless other arrangements are agreed upon prior to the close of the auction. PLEASE- NO DEADBEATS! Only bid if your serious about buying this car and have the money readily available. Please don’t waste my time or yours. For once, I’d like to list a car only one time. Thanks and good luck! On May-20-10 at 10:32:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Note to bidders- Upon closer examination of the floors, I noticed that the drivers front floorpan shows some rot but has been repaired and patched with sheetmetal. There is a picture of this on the Photobucket link.
