1972 Morgan 27' masthead sloop. project boat. I bought this morgan sight unseen thinking it was a cruiser type design that i could live aboard for a while. the plan was to stay on it, fix it up and sell it to move up to the size boat i really want. when i picked up the boat i realized this is a weekender/racer. the forward v berth is open for plenty of sail storage with hatch access to working the deck. the hull design is for speed and racing with headroom just under 6 foot. my first reaction was to scrap her to recover some of my money and keep looking. this would make a great weekend/racer for someone with minimum dollars out of pocket to fix the few things she needs. I would much rather see someone get this boat to fix up and enjoy than cut her up and scrap her. this boat features on the exterior fixed motor mountadjustable back staysheeting main car in cockpittiller steering4 #22 winches in cockpit for headsails2 deck mounted #8's at back of cabin for halyards, all converted to rope.spinnaker pole with deck mounts1 locking cockpit locker.compasstelescoping whisker poleboat hook work done along the wayrigging work/turnbuckle repairs 2/28/06the bottom was stripped and completely re epoxied 6/17/05 rigging was tuned and keel bolts tightened on 6/17/05bow pulpit 08/04/96forespar whisker pole 12/10/05etc, etc etc exterior needs. starboard side handrail has come loose and needs to be replaced, i think the cost of a new one is $48.00starboard side main hatch slide wood has cracked at front.depth gauge supposedly does not workdeck needs to be cleaned and some areas need to be paintedfront hatch needs to be epoxied.it would take about 2 gallons 1 part marine polyurathane at $50 per gallon to do the whole topsides.the bottom needs to be painted! it is currently clean (5/3/10) and has been cleaned professionally every month on contractwoodwork needs sanding/sealing Interior featuresbilge pump12v deep cycle marine battery brand new (if boat sells i will buy a new battery and install it)battery switchgalley sink galley ice boxgalley origo 2 burner alcohol stove. i removed it from boat and filled it and tested it works fine. i only think one burner was really ever used based on colorationmagma gas barbeque stove looks to be nearly new has hand rail mount and canvas cover but is missing regulator. i believe it is $28 for a new one when i looked it up5 gallon poly fresh water tank with deck fill5 gallon holding tank for grey water.12v macerator pump for holding tankforward in head small sinkgroco manual pump marine headuniden vhf radio (never tested) hand held compasssmall fuse style panelinterior lights never tested.hanging locker2 settees 1 qtr berth.the interior needs to be cleaned and painted. brightwork needs to be redone. this is a masthead sloop rig with keel stepped mast based on what i have read these boats and this one in particular are very fast. the previous owner seemed to take good care of her until recently. i dont know if it was financial or health or what but i have a stack of serious spending receipts that just seemed to stop one day and boat has been sitting in slip. it was on a monthly contract for bottom cleaning and that has been done every month. there are 6 sails that come with the boat, one is an extra main that they indicated belonged to another boat but they had intended to re cut her for a back up main. so there are 2 mains and 4 head sails in bags. i have the two settee cushions and qtr berth cushion along with the two back rests but they need to be recovered. i pulled them off the boat and have them at the house so some one could use them for patterns. all of the lines/sheets should be inspected and probably replaced. there are a few guys on ebay selling 100' spools of braided 7/16" line for around $60 bucks the safety equipment is there. 4 life jackets,ground tackle and anchorlunch hookfire extinguishersbellall of the flares have expired (if someone buys the boat i will add 3 brand new hand held flares so all the safety will be covered) the boat must be moved from this slip. there may be slips available at the st pete municipal marina i dont know but i am keeping the slip that she sits in now for the next boat, i will deliver via water to anywhere in the tampa bay area with an outboard. there is no motor included with this sale. i have one i will sell to the winning bidder with electric start and fuel tank for $650 firm when i say i will deliver i mean in tampa bay, this does not include new orleans or mexico or sarasota or miami or cleveland ohio or any other place, lets all be adults and not send stupid emails back and forth. i really want to see someone get a chance to use this boat as it still has a ton of life. with new bottom job and a few hundred for paint and sealant this boat could be well on its way to making someone happy. please email with any questions i will try and answer as soon as possible. i will be happy to show the boat to anyone but it is an hour drive away for me right now so please be very serious before we go thru all of that. for more information see this site http://sailboatdata.com/VIEWRECORD.ASP?CLASS_ID=1051 the reserve price for this auction is the scrap value of the aluminum mast/lead keel plus salvage value of all components sails tanks etc, minus haul out and dump fees. if this boat was a cruiser with v berth and the head room this auction would not be taking place, this boat is only being sold because it would not fit my needs. absolutely 100% if this was a live aboard type vesseli would be fixing her up and keeping her. i want someone to have the opportunity to have a great weekend/racer before i proceed with scrap. remember i will buy the flares for the safety, add a brand new 12v marine battery and deliver in tampa bay area. also have 9.9 electric start motor i will add for the additional fee.
