Vehicle Detail

1999 Chevrolet Metro 2dr Hatchback 3cyl 1.0L 5 speed, 184K. Good condition and has been very reliable for the 4 years I've owned it. A/C compressor was replaced 3 years ago and works great, runs great, good compression on all 3 cylinders, timing belt, alternator belt, and a/c belt replaced 10K ago, new front struts, brakes are 50% all the way around, alignment is perfect and the tires are (6/32" front and 4/32" rear) wearing evenly, driver and passenger air bags, gets 43 mpg, has intermittent wipers, rear defog, am/fm cassette, all fluids have been regularly changed, doesn't burn any oil, leaks a little, but not much, both headlight assemblies are fairly new, very clear, and properly aimed. No rust in front wheel wells where they normally rust. VA state inspection good through 2/11. Interior shows normal wear and is reasonably clean and in good shape. Needs a driver's window handle, the knob came off. When I first got the car I noticed a faint rattle at higher rpm's. It was diagnosed to be a clutch release bearing. I bought a new pressure plate, clutch disc, pilot bushing, and clutch bearing, then waited for the noise to get worse (trying to get the most out of it). The noise never got worse and the clutch works fine, so I never replaced it. The parts will go with the car, a $110 value. The trans shifts upward just fine, but it does not like to downshift into 2nd. When I need 2nd gear and it doesn't go in, I double-clutch it and it drops right in. Someone put some tape on the speedo lens, then took it off, but did not clean it. I'm sure some adhesive remover would take it right off but I never got around to it. Car was in a slow speed parking lot accident 2 years ago, the body was professionally repaired. Only the hood and left fender area were damaged, but I had the body guy touch up the whole left side and the hatchback (parking lot dings, etc...). A different guy painted it and it came out decent. The roof has lost a little paint in a few spots. If you live in a county that does emissions testing you'll need to put a catalytic converter on it. The one on it is a cheap cat ($125) I purchased 2 years ago to pass emissions here in VA, but it's so cheap it won't pass twice. Runs fine without replacing it, but the check engine light comes on sometimes- code 420, low efficiency. It's been a great commuter car, but I have a job close to home so I don't need it anymore. Yes, there are a few things it could use, but it doesn't need anything, just get in and go! Sold "as is". Clear VA Title. I have the car advertised locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
