Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1983 Dodge Ram 150 Pickup. I originally bought this truck to make a street truck out of it, and had started fixing her up running wise first, but am now going through a divorce, so the truck has to go as I am a single dad of 2 kids, already have several other projects, and I cant afford to keep working on it. I hate to see it leave, but Id like to see someone else get it and fix it up, and continue what I started. I drive this truck to work every now and again, but mostly I go out on the weekends in it, and terrorize anyone who wants to run me. It doesnt look like much on the outside, so people dont think it can hold its own, they are generally wrong. It started out as a inline 6, with a 4 speed, but was converted to a 79 Model 360 E58 HP engine out of a St.Regis Police Interceptor. Matching up to this is a 727 HD Torqueflight tranny from the same cop car. This Engine was the same engine used in the Lil' Red Express pickup, which was the fastest production vehicle in its day. I have run Valvoline Synthetic Blend 10w40 motor oil in it since I began the project. I had planned on taking it apart again and building it up more, but it does not lack any power, it does not smoke, nor does it use any oil between oil changes other than the leaks mentioned on further down the page. It has factory 4bbl heads, Edelbrock 650cfm carb, factory 4bbl intake, cam has been stepped up a couple notches, NEW motor mounts, NEW transmission mount, NEW double roller timing chain, NEW water pump, NEW radiator, NEW plugs, NEW plug wires, NEW Ignition controle module, NEW wiring, all electronic boxes have been replaced, NEW ballast resistor , NEW rotor button, NEW cap, oil changed every 3k miles, NEW fuel pump, NEW alternator, NEW battery, NEW high torque starter, long tube headers, NEW heavy duty transmission cooler, tranny has been rebuilt with shift kit, NEW high flow air filter, NEW Holley fuel pressure regulator and all lines (is installed, but I have not hooked it up yet) NEW Energy Suspension red poly body mounts, NEW shocks, NEW Uniroyal Tigerpaw 255/70/15 tires, 15x8" black powder coated rims, NEW front brakes, replaced the gauge cluster with one that has a trip odometer, have a NEW oil pressure autometer gauge that I have not installed that goes with it as well. Also included but not installed yet is a brand NEW Mopar fuel sending unit, and a NEW black grommet that goes around the filler neck where it enters the tank. I have another gas tank for it that I purchased, because the one on the truck has a split in the seam, and I dont like it, just havent gotten around to putting it in. As you can see in the pictures, it has 1 blue door and 1 red door. The blue ones are the ones I purchased off another truck, because the one on the drivers side was split inside at the top where you pull on the door handle, so I got 2 new doors to put on, and have only done the drivers side atm, but the passenger side one is included too. I have a Mopar Performance distributor and a Edelbrock Performer Aluminum Dual Plane Intake that I will sell for an additional 250.00 if the winner of this auction would like. If not, I will list them seperate in another auction. As for things that need worked on, you can see in the pics 2 spots that have rusted through, not bad and can be fixed in 30 mins, or a new front fender can be put on. For the age, this truck is in great shape. Floorboards are not rusted out, and are very solid. I had started spraying a professional undercoating on them inside, and planned to put down a new floorboard mat, but wanted some protection on them first. You can see this in the pics as well. The dash is not cracked, Underneath the truck looks great, and the bed is solid. It wouldnt take alot of time nor money, to get this thing in tip top shape, thats why I chose to buy it, just didnt know events were going to unfold the way it did. I have done the hardest parts for you, the rest is cake. I have listed all the things it has, or I have done, now is time for the things that need to be done. The windshield needs to be replaced eventually, it is starting to fog around the edges, and does tend to leak from time to time, not bad, but enough to warrant getting a new one. It needs new control arm bushings, and it needs a new harmonic balancer as the one thats in it now is grooved, and has messed up the new seal I put in, though I did sleeve it, it didnt fix it. The valve cover gaskets also leak, because I used the hard rubber ones, valve covers are stock, and had been bent on the hold down flanges where someone over tightened them. I straightened them as good as I could, but had planned on putting aluminum ones on it, and just left it alone. Also the intake leaks in the front some, near the timing chain cover, again, this was because the idiot that put the intake on the motor before I got it, didnt seal it correctly. This is why I have the Edelbrock intake, and planned on replacing it soon too. The factory intake is a good one, it is a dual plane also, but to match the carb better, I wanted the Edelbrock. Last but not least, the heater control had been hot and melted the plug, so I got another one out of another truck, and a NEW fan switch, I have them to send with the truck, but since I dont drive it in the winter, I never put it in. The exhaust on this truck is a 2 into 1 Thrust muffler back out into 2 and turned down in the back. It sounds damn good, and turns heads, but I had planned on putting true dual exhaust with Flowmasters. Its loud now, but I wanted it even louder, so people know whats coming. You cant mistake the sound of a good running Mopar. As I said before, it runs excellent, and I even put it up against a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Extended Cab a couple weeks ago, it had Hemi, and it never stood a chance till I hit around 110mph, then it started closing the gap. It will knock you back in your seat when you take off, but it also loves to drink the gas. I think this will make someone a great truck, and if I missed anything you would like to know, please ask, and I will get back to you as quick as I can. The reserve is low, and its priced to sell if this is what you are looking for! Thanks for viewing my auction,Stacy On May-19-10 at 15:19:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Also forgot to mention I have a NEW MSD Blaster 2 coil, another gauge cluster/dash trim panel which is solid black because I had planned on doing the inside in black, have 2 replacement bezels for the headlights/marker lamps and the universal joints have been replaced. If the winning bid goes over $1400.00, I am also throwing in the Edelbrock Aluminum intake that sells for $257.00, and the Mopar Performance Distributor that sells for $187.00. If I am selling the truck there is no use in keeping them, because it will be a long time before I can afford another project, and I dont really feel like listing more items and paying more fees anyway. Im sure I am still leaving stuff out that I have done, or parts that I have that goes with it, as I have over $4000.00 already in this truck, but thats the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Anyway, thanks again for viewing my auction, and to all the bidders. StacyOn May-20-10 at 08:51:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Ive been getting alot of questions on this truck, and I am not always around a computer, so if you need contact me, my number is 276-226-4600, please leave a message if I am not there and I will call you back. As for the reason of one side of the bed being primered, the guy I bought it from had started to prime the truck where it was surface rusting, my plans was to sand the whole vehicle and prime it in grey and run it that way, because they look good like that. I restore old muscle cars for a living, do paint/body and motor work, and I knew this was a good foundation for what I had in mind. The truck is solid, all metal is original, this is a great truck to restore or make a project out of. They are slowly dwindling down, and getting harder to find, typically if you do find one, it is full of rust or wrecked. Hope this clears up some questions, if not, dont hesitate to call, Stacy.
