Vehicle Detail

Honest old Colorado truck. From what I can tell, it's never been in an accident; I drove it home in the rain, and sighted down the sides while it was wet - the body is absolutely straight, with very little rust. I have included pictures of body rust, which actually show just how minimal it is. It's a 352(?) 4 speed, granny low, with later dual exhaust exiting ahead of the rear wheelwells. The left muffler has a hole in it, the kind that happens when condensation sits inside for a long stretch. Everything works, starts, runs and drives fine. No smoke, strange noises, or any reason not to just get in and go. As a running, driving restoration candidate, you couldn't ask for more. Or you could just drive it as is. It's had one repaint that I can tell, and the patina is just, well, Colorado. Not a show truck, but wouldn't be hard to make it into one, either. Good tires, drives straight, with just a little of that old truck wander - learn to rest your hand on the wheel, and it'll go as pointed. Now for all the downside, which I will take extra care to describe, as I want your positive feedback more than a few extra bucks. The windshield is cracked, the bench seat needs repair (even the traditional Indian blanket is worn through), there are rust holes in the floorboards from front wheel spray (easy patch, if you're not concerned with "Correct"), there are rust holes in the bed floor, pictured, which don't affect load bearing ability, the hood hinges are stiff, wiper blades are missing, there's no radio, the right rear trim piece is off its clip, and has a crink, the tailgate has a dent on top, and rust and bondo in the lower channel, the holed muffler is kinda loud, dash pad is sun fried, right taillight bezel is dinged(easy to straighten),and the dice hanging off the mirror could use replacement. There, all the bad things fit into one sentence. OK, a pretty long sentence, and I will add more nitpicky stuff during the course of the auction. Bottom line is this: This is a sound old truck with no major drawbacks that could be restored or customized by an amateur for great results. Or, you could just leave it alone and have a righteous old pickup. Have your Lear jet drop you off in Denver, then drive home slowly, stopping to have your picture taken at various honky tonks along the way. Please ask if there's anything I haven't covered, and I will be happy to add more detailed pictures at your request. I bought this truck for my own use, but a change in circumstances leads me here instead. Thanks for Looking! Dan LarsonOn May-17-10 at 11:10:11 PDT, seller added the following information: 5/17/10 An alert Ebayer has informed me that the engine is not a 352, as I had guessed, and that it's more likely a 292. Sorry for my ignorance, and if the wrong info misled you into bidding, I have no problem with a retraction. I would like to find out for sure that is indeed a 292; if you can tell me where to look, I will do whatever it takes to verify. OK, maybe not remove a head to measure the bore, but...Thanks for your help and understanding! Dan
