Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is this awesome 1974 Volkswagen Standard Beetle daily driver. Its the Limited Edition Love Bug with special Ravenna green paint and black exterior trim with the factory sport wheels. I am the third owner of this little gem and I have the original window sticker and matching owners manual from 1974! It even comes with a vintage VW sticker that came with the car. This Beetle's 1776cc engine is brand new with only 8,500 miles on it. Its only been 7 months since the new engine went in. Not rebuilt, new. Nothing was remanufactured, all new case, crankshaft, bearings, cylinders, pistons, rings, cam, high performance heads/valves etc. This engine has an external oil filter with a high performance oil pump, it was broken in very carefully and has had an oil change and valve adjustment before every 3000 miles after the initial 500 mile tune up. A new clutch went in along with the engine, along with a light weight flywheel. This car is very quick and drives beautifully, its a lot of fun to cruise around in. It has a $300 compu-fire electronic ignition that makes it run smooooth! This is my main form of transportation so I drive it a bunch everyday, there is nowhere I would hesitate to drive it no matter how far. Headlights high and low, tail, brake, turn signals, 4-way flashers, and running lights, windshield wipers all work. I have taken some long trips in it and have been very comfortable the entire time. It has an awesome sound system with a cd player (mounted in the glovebox to retain that stock appearance) that has an aux. input for ipod that pushes 2 Kenwood 6" by 9" speakers. The stock am/fm is still mounted in the dash. It has disc brakes in the front that give this Bug some great stopping power. On the factory sport rims, which have been powdercoated in metallic silver, are some nice tires with lots of tread which were also put on new along with the new engine. This bug has all the nice backlit VDO gauges to make sure the engine is running smooth and cool; tachometer, oil pressure, oil temp, voltmeter, and even a clock. The speedometer reads faster than you are actually going and the gas gauge needle floats around. There is a new fuel sender in the tank so the problem is probably in the gauge as far as the fuel reading goes. The headliner is in rough shape so a new one would make it look really nice. The front seats (which are the factory color) are in decent shape with only a few small holes in the driver seat. The rear seat bottom has a few patched holes in it, and both the back and the bottom arent factory color. This Beetle has minimal rust, just some little nicks from rock chips here and there, and on the drip rails in the common spots. The floor pans are very solid, they have been patched in some trouble spots, but still very solid. It sure isnt hiding any rust, what you see is what you get. The paint is in ok condition, could really use a buffing and some touch up, but it looks decent from 10 ft. You can tell its not glossy in the pictures, that being said I have tried to portray this car to the best of my abilities. I love this car and have babied it, it has many more new parts that I have not even listed. This car is sold as is, and anyone is more than welcome to come take a look at it in person.
