Vehicle Detail
You'll be hard pressed to find a better Falcon convertible (any year) - for the asking price! This car is worth MUCH more - but who's kidding who - the economy stinks! Here are some details on the car............ The car has had it's original 289 replaced with a 302 V8 (mid 1980's). Prior owner indicated that the engine had less than 4,000 miles since re-built (I've probably only driven it 400 or 500 since I've owned it), however, I do not have any documentation to confirm. The engine has an Edelbrock 4-barrel intake manifold, and Edelbrock air cleaner, and the prior owner said a "special cam". This is all lost on an old (70 years old) "Dude" - I just liked the looks of the car! And the car runs great. The car has an automatic transmission, and I added power steering (old guy stuff). The car also has a new exhaust system, with new flowmaster type mufflers - with "attitude" (I'm not that old!). The car also has front disc brakes off a Lincoln (non-powered). The interior is really nice, except that the quarter trim is worn. However, new quarter trim material (and new snaps) are in the trunk. I built a special "pod" (see picture) to hold the new Stewart-Warner (Green-Line) oil pressure and voltage gauges. The original oil pressure "warning light" still works - in case one fails to pay attention to the oil gauge! The car has a new radiator and a special "over-flow" cylinder (see picture). The car also has an "on-demand" auxiliary electric fan installed in front of the radiator, to give one a little "piece of mind" when the temp gauge starts to "creep-up", and you're stuck in rush hour traffic (blocked in the middle lane!), or in a really slow parade - you WILL be asked to participate in parades! I almost forgot - the car was re-painted last Summer. All gauges/turn signals, heater, radio (after market), and lights work fine. Actually, everything associated with the car works - except for the owner (retired). The car has a powered top (works fine) and seat belts. Sorry, I'm not interested in trades - I have to sell this car to help pay for a 1955 Vicky that I bought. If I were to keep this car, there would be two things that I would do.....(1) Re-cover quarter trim (material provided)...(2) Replace the stock steering wheel with a smaller after market wheel (Grant?). With power steering, a smaller wheel will allow easier entry into the vehicle. If you want more pictures, let me know - I have a digital camera. Oh yes, I forgot to add, you can drive this car anywhere. I know you've heard that before, but once you see the car, you'll know this is true. Nice weather is on the way...can anyone say "road trip"? And I can't think of a more fun car to take! A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of closing, and the balance due in seven days. If you prefer to have the car shipped, that will be the buyers responsibility - but I will try to assist as much as I can. If you have any questions, please call Jim, at 503-981-6828. Or, contact me by email on the link provided. If you'd like to have a nice little "birdie" convertible, but you don't have "deep pockets", this is the one! Thanks for looking. Please note: In response to one of the questions, I referred to the 1955 Ford Shop Manual. I should, of course, had said the 1965 Falcon Shop Manual. Must have had the "Vicky" on my mind. Folks, there has been some "confusion" regarding the VIN for this car...and I must admit that I'm just a little "red in the face"! Some folks have said that my VIN is bogus - and I've indicated that they're "full of it"! True is.....everyone is right - the car was built in CANADA! Can you image that, owning a car and not realizing it was built by FORD OF CANADA. I've added a picture of the plate. By the way, does anyone know how many 1965 Falcon Convertibles were made in Canada? Can't be too high of a number. Forgot...the car also has PERTRONIX "ignitor" ignition. Never mess with points again!
