Vehicle Detail
Up on the chopping block is my little 1/2 ton hot rod chevy truck. Looking for some good advertising for your hot rod or custom shop, etc...? Or maybe you just want to have some fun. Look no further. This pickup gets more attention than a 5 car pileup during rush hour! It was made to look good, but it's no trailer queen. It also has the advantage of being able to carry more than a regular bed. This truck is NOT a 3600 3/4 ton long bed. If at some point you want to install a fendered style bed, a short bed will have to be used. For those interested in doing this, I may be able to find a good rust free bed and rear fenders for an extra fee. I can also paint it to match the rest of the truck and install for an extra fee. This is a good example of a clean, cancer free Colorado truck. There are no rust outs on the body or frame. The whole truck has just been professionally refinished. All body panels have been stripped down to bare metal to remove the original lacquer paint. All trim and windows were removed as to avoid any tape lines. Primer was applied and block sanded out flat using a 12" sanding block. Final blocking of the primer was done wet with 600 grit. 3 coats each of Martin Senour base coat and clear coat paint were applied using an HVLP paint gun. The clear coat was sanded down with 600 grit all the way up to 2000 grit to remove all orange peel and then buffed to a high gloss sheen. The frame and flat bed steel frame have been sanded and wire brushed down to remove all road grime and scale, and a couple of fresh coats of Martin Senour gloss black industrial paint was sprayed on via an HVLP paint gun. The inside of the fenders and inner fender wells have been undercoated to prevent rock chipping. All under hood sheet metal has been painted gloss black including the underside of the hood. Obviously the drivetrain has been updated with a chevy small block V8. The engine is pretty much stock but has plenty of power ( enough to light up the tires, which I have never done...) Many upgrades and changes have been made to make this truck more reliable and drivable, like power disc brakes, open driveshaft style rear axle, v8 power and automatic transmission. The coolest custom modification is the 1953 Chevy Bel Air dash that had been professionally installed. Someone who isn't familiar with these trucks would never know it's been changed. Those who are familiar with them will appreciate it ( unless they only like 100% original trucks, which they wouldn't like the rest of the truck anyways) Both windshields and the weatherstripping were just replaced along with the backglass weatherstrip. All door and side window weatherstripping is in good shape. All windows are good - no cracks, chips, or misc. The grille is an original GM part and has seen better days. I have almost all of the receipts for this truck. I also have some extra pictures of the restoration that I would be happy to forward to anyone interested I am also upgrading the truck with power steering. I am adding a steering box and pump off of a 1978 2 wheel drive truck. For more information on this upgrade you can check out the following website for all details. http://www.classicperform.com/power2.htm I don't have any pictures to post yet as I am waiting on the conversion kit to show up. I should be here Tuesday. Please feel free to email me with any questions you might have. If you have never driven one of these trucks, you should take the time to drive one first and see if you like them before purchasing mine. My truck sold 2 weeks ago on Ebay. The gentleman who purchased my truck found out he was to big to fit in the truck. These cabs were not made to fit like a Cadillac so please take that into consideration before bidding.
