Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1971 Volkswagen Bus. The body is in very good condition. It was last registered in 1986, and has been parked and used for storage ever since in a dry Arizona back yard. All the window glass is intact, the windshield having a crack in the bottom left hand corner however. It has acquired a couple of mild dents on the front and left front of the vehicle, which should be easily corrected. The only other real damage I have observed is in the engine compartement, where the battery sits. At some point during one of the last 24 winters when this vehicle was sitting unused, the battery must have froze, and cracked the case. The battery acid which then leaked out ate away the sheet metal which the battery sits on. I have included pictures of the area. There is no damage either to the wheel well or the outside fender, just the portion of sheet metal where the battery sat. The battery itself has been removed. This is the only real damage I 've observed to the vehicle. Both front doors, the sliding side door, and the engine access hatch work fine, though the inside handle is missing for the sliding door. The back hatch is stuck closed. The interior is a little beat up. The headliner has a few small rips in it, the driver’s door panel is missing, though the hardware is in the glove box. The passenger door and sliding door panels are present. Both are a little rough. The bottom of the rear bench seat is missing, the top is still present, placed down in the storage position. The mileage on the odometer reads 22363.9. That could very well have a 1 in front of it. The engine is not so great, as is shown by the picture. I blew out the compartment with an air gun and verified that the engine does not turn freely, and that was the extent of my inspection. There are some additional parts sitting in the engine compartment which someone took off at some time, for some reason. All four tires hold air, and the vehicle rolls freely. This vehicle has neither keys nor title. This vehicle comes with a service manual, easily a $20 value; yours absolutley free, just for making this purchase. This bus does not come with the license plate. Transportation of this vehicle is the responsibility of the winning bidder, though I will help as much as I can on this end. Full payment is required before the vehicle will be released. We make an effort to describe the item as accurately as possible so you can make an informed decision prior to placing your bid. Please ask all questions in advance. We answer all questions in a timely manner. Thank you for looking.
