Vehicle Detail

gilariverfloor store This is a very good condition 1972 Big Block Pontiac Grand Prix J 400Cui 4 barrel with the standard tranny, All numbers are matching, interior is in ok condition with power windows and locks. It needs a new ceiling cover. Windshield is good no cracks. All glass is good without cracks and appears original. There are the usual cracks in the dash you find after 38 years I tried to show in one picture. The paint is bad condition. The car has virtually no rust except for pinpoint blemish and small spot on driver and passenger side bottom door wells, All fenders, wheel wells, trunk, underside and overall car have no rust. I bought the car is an Arizona car, shows no signs of being driven on salted roads. The water pump was replaced and a fuel line replaced the car needs a major tune-up and possibly a new carburetor. It has dual exhaust. The title 110062 for actual mileage. The engine runs out smooth and 400cu kick-strong, with no knocks or obvious engine problems. I will give you the name and number of my mechanic if you like. Oil and filter were just changed with premium oil, car does leak some oil while sitting. The tranny shifts smoothly and perfectly up and down. The air conditioner works but not strong may need recharge and new compressor. Lights work but horn needs a fix. All problems are minor or blemish in nature. The car is solid but needs some finishing touches, especially cosmetically. The tires are at half-life with probably 20,000mi left. Wheels are the original mages/ rally from what I recall them this year. The only major problem is it needs a tune-up and new or rebuilt carburetor. This would be a perfect project car if you wanted to take this model J from 95% up to SHOWROOM. There are no known defects other than what you read here or see on the car. You could use it for a cruiser today- with only a tune-up and carb. I've got a reasonable reserve at less than what I have in this but if you can give it a good home that's okay with me. Comments: GM followed the industry standard and began to rate all its engines in SAE net horsepower, which resulted in a significant drop in power ratings, although true engine power was relatively unchanged. There was new styling for 1972 which included an egg crate grille with multiple fins between main bars, and triple-segment tail lamps. Finned wheel covers were available. There was also rumored to be 60 Hurst SSJs built, all with a dual-gate automatic transmission. 1972 would be the last year for the John DeLorean long hood/short deck design.
