CLASSIC CARS LTD. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY It is rare that we find ourselves as a loss for words or in a position where we do not know where to begin to describe a vehicle. Frankly, we find it difficult to find suitable adjectives to describe the BMW M3 convertible. Simply stated, we find that, overall, the BMW M3 represents one of the finest performance convertibles available in the market today. And, when it comes to the performance of the M3, the experts agree (See review comments below): CNET said: "The 2006 BMW M3 pleases enthusiasts of both performance and technology with near race-spec power and handling." Edmunds.com said: "Great looks with the performance to back it up. Everything you want in a sports coupe (performance, design, practicality, and overall appearance). Initially uncertain about SMG (automatic 6-speed transmission), but am quickly falling in love. The handling is second to none, and the engine is always willing to give the driver more! All of this with ample space in the rear seats, and storage in the trunk." We have had more than our share of fast sedans and sporting coupes (including the highly respected M5, AMG and others), but no other example offers the combination of performance, handling and creature comforts that come together as well as they do on the M3, especially considering the availability of a "drop top" version. The BMW M3 is fast, handles extremely well yet offers BMW reliability and many "creature comforts." Simply stated, the car is absolutely striking, and has the appearance of a car that is only a few years old and the timeless styling of the desirable E46 BMW M3. The BMW is finished in the especially attractive color combination of Light Gray Metallic "Silbergrau" with magnificent, high quality leather interior resulting in a really striking combination. The interior is accented with the optional, upgraded aluminum trim that fits extremely well with a high performance Coupe like the M3 and, in our opinion, is a significantly better look than the wood trim (on this car). The paint and body on the M3 are absolutely gorgeous and the M3 has the benefit of not only being a California car, but also having a totally clean Car Fax report. The Car Fax report supports this clean history along with the fact that the M3 has had limited, careful owners, always in California. The paint has a brilliant shine / gloss and is in absolutely spectacular condition with NO signs of fading, scratches, door dings or other imperfections. In terms of the exterior condition of the car, this M3 is as free from flaws as any car of this vintage that we have seen, or owned. The M3 is 100% stock and has not been modified in any way unlike many of the other M3 cars that we see listed for sale. Cosmetically, this car is exceptional, not only for its year, but even for a much later M3. There are no significant dings, scratches, nicks, or flaws on the exterior surfaces. Any extremely minor imperfections are noticeable only upon extremely close inspection and only visible to the most critical eye (really nothing other than a few pin-point sized chips in the very lower spoiler that are not noticeable unless you bend down to inspect the spoiler). In fact, even a close examination of the car does not reveal any dents, dings or damage that detract from the overall quality and attractiveness of the M3. To say that this car has been fanatically well maintained is an understatement. We believe that the wheels that are fitted to the M3 are some of the most attractive wheels available from BMW for the stock M3. They are the 19" staggered wheels with larger rear wheels / tires and are very attractive, indeed. The wheels are fitted with matching performance tires that have sufficient tread to pass the California safety inspection and the wheels are in structurally solid condition but with some minor "curbing" and scratches that are consistent with a car of this age. The glass is free from any stars or scratches, and, of course, all of the electrical systems including the top are fully functional and operate properly. INTERIOR CONDITION The interior is equally as good as the exterior condition of the BMW. The appointments are very high quality and the interior has been very well cared for, indeed. The entire interior is in beautiful condition and is smoke free. The car has beautiful leather interior that is free from any rips, tears or wear areas, and has been carefully maintained in a fashion that is consistent with the cars mechanical care. The car is beautifully appointed and shows little if any wear on any part of the interior. The sporty seats are very comfortable and reflect the car's low mileage with virtually no signs of wear outside of the fine patina (and aroma) of fine leather but are totally free from rips, tears, damage, or signs of neglect. Both front seats are fully adjustable electronically and even include seat heaters (both sides). The rear seat has not been used for any type of car seat and is equally as good as the front seating areas, showing no wear. The carpet, door panels, dash, center console and other areas of the interior area are in beautiful condition reflecting the adult ownership / use of the car. This car was driven by the car's owner / drive (and his wife on a few occasions) and it shows! The carpets are covered with new M3 logo floor mats that are in excellent condition and were recently replaced with new items. The dash and aluminum trim is virtually perfect with no defects. The photographs accurately reflect the condition of the interior and, for that matter, the entire car. This is a truly exceptional example that was purchased directly from the original owner, has never been sold at auction and is 100% no excuses. DRIVING IMPRESSIONS / MECHANICAL CONDITION - THIS PARTIUCLAR BMW M3 Over the years, we have been fortunate enough to own/drive virtually every model of BMW that has been produced during the past 25+ years. And, frankly, as everyday "drivers" we almost always have either a "3-Series" or a "5-Series" as one of our personal cars. To our way of thinking (and, for the past 10+ years road test magazines agree) that the 3-Series is a tremendous sporting Coupe. The cars provide room for 4+, handle very well (even in stock configuration) and offer a very high "fun quotient." The later model cars also benefit from traction control (DSC), along with the ability to use the car as a semi automatic by utilizing the options sport/automatic transmission mode. Of course, as you would expect from a car of this caliber, the M3 has been 100% reliable and usable. Gone are the days when high horsepower and performance meant a lumpy idle, rough ride, and a complete lack of comfort and luxury. The M3 offers it all. Driven easily, the car is docile and luxurious. When put sport mode and driven in the more aggressive computer controlled settings, the car is very fast and agile. Servicing has been completed by BMW as is evidenced by the remaining 6,xxx miles before the next require service on the BMW. The steering is precise and tight and there are absolutely no vibrations or problems with the car at any speed. The car's brakes are excellent, and stop the BMW straight and sure and the emergency brake is fully functional. The BMW will be sold to California buyers with a recent California smog certificate having just passed California's new stringent dynamometer testing program. This M3 is a "No Surprises" car in every respect and a car that will make a BMW enthusiast out of anyone that has an interest in a serious, high performance, sports coupe. The engine bay is, and always has been, kept as clean & tidy as the interior. It is very clean and has been wiped down when the car received a hand washing. The photos tell the story regarding the condition of the exterior, interior, rear cargo area, and even the engine bay of this beautiful BMW M3. The trunk area is spotless, and contains the navigation unit along with the remote CD changer. The carpet is perfect. All of the original factory tools are in place. FYI, the M3 cars were not fitted with a spare when new as result of the rear exhaust configuration.
