This is a pretty special fox body. You dont see too many of these up for sell. The 82 notch is pretty special for a few reasons. It was Fords introduction of the 5.0 HO motor with 351W camshaft. This is the car that started the legend of CHP Mustangs. The California Highway Patrol purchased about 400 5.0 GL Notchback Coupes from Ford, added 140mph speedo,police lights,radio and gun rack and ruled the California Highways. Inspiring law enforcement agencies across the nation to follow suit. Cars outfitted just like this one, with manual windows and mirrors, no a/c. Just a 5.0L engine, 4speeed manual, and posi-traction, in a super light weight body approx 2500-2700 lbs. Most with the same interior this one has, tan/vanilla. This car is 1 of approx 4k cars with the 5.0 engine in a non-GT car. Thats out of a total of 130K mustangs made that year. But one of my favorite things is the factory hood scoop which adds a muscular touch to a pretty docile looking car. Kinda like a sleeper with an attitude. This 82 Mustang GL with 5.0L V8 and 4 speed manual transmission is in fairly good condition. It does need some cleaning up and a tune -up. It has a Ford Traction-lock rear end with 3.08 gears. It is an original 13K mile car, and is verifiable by car history report. The reason it has so few miles is because it has been sitting for very long periods of time outside. Because of that the oil pan and valve covers could use new gaskets. There are few small dents and dings and a small pocket of rust just behind drivers seat. (pictured). I have been using it as a daily driver for the last month or so. And I have been thoroughly testing the car out. In a responsible manner of course. All factory running lights, are in great working /looking condition. Turn signals and all signal lights as well as hazard lights are in working order. The windshield wipers and windshield wiper water pump work. All factory glass is in place and in good shape, there is a crack in the windshield. The car also runs very well it always starts on the first key stroke. The 5.0 HO has 2bbl carburated induction and is in stock un modified form, the car runs very good and strong. The engine is not noisy, but some of the gaskets, valve cover and oil pan are slightly leaky but no major leaks. It will however get on exhaust after long hard trips and will cause light smoke for short time. The overall appearance of the engine bay is very good, all factory pieces are there. Newer battery installed. The 4 speed trans works excellently in all forward gears and reverse . No slippage or missed shifts no gear or trans whine. The clutch works smooth and fully engages with very little pedal push. The trak-lok rear end locks up nicely and both tires will spin and lay down tracks. Let me be clear this car is still pretty fast I have taken it on 5-6 40+ mile trips in the last 2 months and have subjected the car to spirited driving, it performs very well. whether on the freeway or street, in traffic or open road conditions. It accelerates very well and will fish tail on hard launches. Down shift on freeway for passing and the car blasts past other vehicles. This car performs right now! The interior is in decent condition it is pretty much all there. It does need to be cleaned, it has an old odor from sitting for a long time. However, the ammeter,fuel gauge,tach,speedo, oil pres gauges all work fine. This is a great car that is ready to drive right now. Completely road ready and can be driven anywhere right now.
